PhD Studentships in the Cell Biology of Cancer, Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, UK

We are currently re-advertising three of our PhD Studentships (project supervisors: Owen Sansom,  Robert White and Sara Zanivan) Details of each project can be found below. Students will be selected for interview based on their academic qualifications, research/lab experience and letters of reference. Each candidate will be asked to give a brief 10-minute talk about a research project they have been involved with. This will be followed by one-to-one meetings with selected group leaders as well as lunch with some of our current students. Only reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Institute.

Postdoctoral Positions in Breast and Ovarian Cancer, Philadelphia

Two Postdoctoral positions are available immediately. The projects are supported by NIH/NCI (R01CA142776, 2010-2015; and Ovarian Cancer SPORE program, 2009-2014) and US Department of Defense (Breast Cancer Program, 2010-2011). My laboratory has a major focus on the cancer genome (microRNA alterations, PNAS 2006, Cancer Research 2008 and PNAS 2008), host-tumor interaction (Nature Cell Biol. 2009 and Cancer Research 2010), cancer stem cells (JBC 2010) as well as cancer biological therapy (New Eng. J. Med. 2003 and Nature Med. 2004) of ovarian and breast cancers. The projects will focus on: 1) miRNA deregulation and function in ovarian and breast cancers; 2) somatic and cancer stem cells; and 3) development genetic model (transgenic and knock-out) for epithelial ovarian cancer. We are seeking candidates who are self motivated and career-oriented to join an exciting highly interactive research team.

The LH Ainsworth Cancer Research Scholarship, Australia: Understanding, prevention, treatment or cure of cancer

The Scholarship is established to encourage students to undertake Postgraduate Research study in a field relevant to the understanding, prevention, treatment or cure of cancer. To be eligible for a Scholarship, an applicant must be undertaking or proposing to enrol in a full-time Masters by Research or PhD in a field relevant to the understanding, prevention, treatment or cure of cancer.  The Scholarship recipient should not normally hold any other Scholarship or award (except an Australian Postgraduate Award) except with the permission of the UNSW Selection Committee. The Scholarship is tenable for one year only. Completed application forms and any supporting documentation should be scanned and emailed (preferably as a single pdf document) to the Graduate Research School on scholarships.grs@unsw.edu.au by the specified closing date.
