Scholarship Description: The Utility Wind Integration Group (UWIG) Board of Directors has established as one of its goals furthering the education of students enrolled in accredited college or vocational schools in programs related to power engineering, wind energy, or the maintenance of wind turbines. Towards this end, each year UWIG may award up to three scholarships each. Up to two $2,000 scholarships will be granted to undergraduate students enrolled in accredited engineering schools who are pursuing a career in power engineering with a focus on or major in wind generation, and one $1,000 scholarship will be granted to a student enrolled in an accredited wind technician program. The scholarships cover a single academic year and are not renewable.
Application Instructions
The UWIG Board will determine the winner of each scholarship based on grade point average as well as a short essay explaining why the student is pursuing a career related to wind generation. The recipients of these scholarships will be recognized at UWIG’s Annual Membership Meeting each spring.
To apply, complete the application form and submit it, along with a short essay explaining why you are pursuing a career related to wind generation. The essay should also include a discussion of your participation in any extracurricular activities while in school, and future educational and career plans. The essay should be approximately 500 words and no longer than 1000 words.
Please note that the engineering scholarships will be targeted towards students enrolled in undergraduate programs. It is expected that recipients will maintain their academic major during the term covered by the scholarship. You should be prepared to provide upon request a transcript to verify grade point average. Applications submitted without an essay will not be accepted.
