Small Business Innovation Research Initiative (SBIRI), India

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites proposals from Indian Companies under the SBIRI Scheme for support of early stage, pre proof-of-concept research & development of research leads towards commercialization in all fields of biotechnology.
Unique Features of  SBIRI
? Assists small and medium business units including new enterprises with not more than 500 employees in R&D.
? Offers Phase I funding for early stage, pre proof-of-concept innovative research.
? Provides Phase II funding towards commercialization of research leads.

Who can apply?
Pharma, Biotech companies and any other enterprises focusing on scientific innovations

Eligibility
Can be submitted solely by an Indian Company/ies or jointly with public partner (Universities or National Institutes).
More than 51% of the shares of the Company are to be held by Indian Citizens.
Industry should have DSIR* recognized in-house R&D unit or have IP related to the proposed activity.
Joint ventures and limited partnerships would be eligible for SBIRI support where the entity created meets the above requirements.

Siemens / DAAD Post Graduate Program Research Grants 2011 for Graduates from India: Engineering Sciences,Natural Sciences (Physics, Biology

Grants for PhD-students can be awarded for up to a maximum of 36 months. The grant includes:
· home country dependent lump-rate travel allowance,
· monthly grant payment of 1.300,- EUR,
· annually study and research subsidy of 460,- EUR,
· costs of insurance for health, accident and personal liability in Germany,
· a two-month German language course.
Where applicable, family-dependent allowances or benefits may also be paid.Host institutions will obtain a research cost allowance of 2.400,- EUR per year.
Application
Applications are open to Indian graduates who hold a Master’s or equivalent academicdegree and have very good English language skills. No more than two years should have passed since graduating with this degree.

DAAD-IAESTE Internship Programme 2011, Germany: Natural and technical sciences

Practical training placements with various firms, institutions of higher education and research institutes for students are arranged by the “International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Expertise” (IAESTE).
Students of natural and technical sciences, agriculture and forestry registered at an Indian University.
A DAAD stipend of Euro 650 per month to cover living expenses,
• Health, liability and accident insurance.
All applicants must be registered students at a university or an institution of higher education for the whole period of training and must have at least one semester remaining after the completion of his internship in Germany.
• Internship has to be an integral part of the ongoing study program.
• The language proficiency should be in accordance with the requirement of the job description mentioned in Form O.
