RoSPA / BNFL Scholarship Scheme

BNFL has endowed RoSPA with a special fund to finance a scholarship scheme over the next ten years to enable students;’to carry out research into safety and accident prevention that will produce defined, practical and influential outcomes to help save lives and prevent injuries.’
Applications are invited for the third round of funding available through the RoSPA/BNFL accident prevention scholarship.
The scheme provides support for safety-related research that will produce defined, practical and influential outcomes to help save lives and prevent injuries in the UK and around the world. It was established with £500,000 of legacy funding following the winding up of BNFL (British Nuclear Fuels).

Postdoctoral Fellowship Next Generation Sequencing Bioinformatics, Netherlands

You will be part of a growing team of a skilled bioinformatics team led by Dr. Morris Swertz embedded in high impact publishing genetics and bioinformatics research departments of >45 researchers (Prof. dr. CIsca Wijmenga, Prof. dr. Ritsert Jansen, >15 recent publications in Nature journals). We offer you access to a state-of-the-art next generation sequencing (NGS) facility, innovative a broad range of human and model organism labs, and collaboration with major national and international research groups including visits and stays.

We are looking for a postdoc to take the bioinformatics lead in exciting next generation sequencing projects such as to sequence 750 Dutch individuals (“Genome of the Netherlands project, BBMRI-NL) and to contribute to innovative analysis methods, high impact variation publications, dynamic software infrastructures and new diagnostic tools for the next generation of medical care.

What do we need?
The ideal candidate is a motivated PhD graduate with experience and background in bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology and/or biotechnology, excited as we are to explore next-generation sequencing data, embark on ‘TB scale’ bioinformatics analyses, with excellent track record, good command of the English language, and a growing bioinformatics toolbox with statistical methods, knowledge of public tools, personal scripts, and so on.

What do we offer?
We offer a full-time contract for a period of 3 to 5 years and a starting salary € 3052-3279 gross per month (depending on qualifications/experience, Dutch UMC scale 10, 11).

Erasmus Mundus International Master’s Scholarship in Women’s and Gender Studies

GEMMA is the achievement of long years of efforts trying to advance in the tuning of our diverse educational structures and create common curricula in Women’s and Gender Studies. The eight partner institutions represent seven European countries with different locations and cultures across all Europe: University of Granada (Spain, Co-ordinator), University of Bologna (Italy), Central European University (Hungary), University of Hull (United Kingdom), University of Lodz (Poland), University of Oviedo (Spain) and University of Utrecht (Netherlands).

GEMMA is an interdisciplinary programme that provides high quality academic education and professional competences for personnel working or intending to work in the areas of Women’s Studies, Gender Studies and Equal Opportunities across Europe. It collects our best offers both from the humanities and social sciences, making it attractive to students and offering a wide span of options and combinations. Courses are taught by the most distinguished and highly recognized professors in the fields of research at each one of the departments involved.

GEMMA provides a unique opportunity to benefit from mobility as students are expected to study at different European universities.
