Scholarship at United Kingdom

This scholarship is intended for graduates who already have some other form of financial support. Candidates should have attained a high standard in their previous academic work. Applicants must hold a place, or an offer of a place, at Lincoln College before applying. The award is paid to the successful candidate towards the end of the calendar year of application, and it is usual at this point for the successful candidate to write a letter of acknowledgement and thanks to the Trustees from whom the award comes.

Eligibility:
candidates from any University outside the United Kingdom and the European Community entering the first year of a higher degree in any subject.

Candidates should ask one referee to write directly to the Senior Tutor, care of the Admissions Office, at Lincoln College in support of their application; this should be a person who is familiar with their academic work, and the reference should be written specially for this scholarship application. Post Graduate Scholarship at Newcastle University

A £2,500 postgraduate scholarship, towards fees and living expenses, shall be awarded each year to one student. The Scholarship holder shall also be given the opportunity to apply for a further £2,500 ‘golden handshake’ upon successful recruitment into an engineering position, following graduation.

The Scholarship is open to outstanding students who have successfully applied for one of the taught postgraduate courses at Newcastle University listed above.

Criteria for candidates:
• Must be a British National
• Hold a first class honours degree, in a relevant science or engineering discipline
• Must be applying to study for a postgraduate degree on one of the MSc programmes listed above at Newcastle University.

PhD at the University of Antwerp

The particle physics group of the University of Antwerp has an opening available for a full-time Ph.D. scholarship.

The main topic of research of the group is the experimental study of fundamental interactions at large accelerators such as the LHC at CERN. The group participates in the CMS experiment and is active in the study of strong interaction, the search for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model.

Description of the position:

  • You conduct research and prepare a doctoral dissertation in the field of experimental particle physics
  • You mentor bachelor and master students in developing their thesis subject
  • You contribute to the general education tasks of the Physics department

Profile:

  • You have a masters’ degree in Physics or Applied Sciences
  • You can present excellent grades
