Institute Post Doctoral Fellowship at IIT Madras, India

It is proposed to offer a number of Institute PostDoctoral
Fellowships (PDF) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.(IIT Madras). It is a temporary research position which may be offered for those who seek to choose research as a profession. The research work during the postdoctoral period can be in areas that are of interest, both to the postdoctoral fellows and the Institute.(Institute henceforth refers to IIT Madras) The presence of the postdoctoral fellows at the Institute will further enhance the research culture and output of the Institute and help promote interdisciplinary research. It is a transition phase which can also help a fresh doctorate transform into an independent researcher before taking up a research career.

Scholarship Application Deadline: Applications are received throughout the year. Invitation for interview will be sent by the respective departments if found suitable after scrutinizing the application.

The MC Ainsworth Scholarship in Neurosciences, Australia

The Scholarship is established to encourage students to undertake Postgraduate Research in the field of neuroscience. To be eligible for this Scholarship, an applicant must be undertaking or proposing to enrol in a full-time Masters by Research or PhD in the field of neuroscience. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic merit and a statement detailing the reasons for undertaking study in the field of neuroscience. The value of the Scholarship is $2,000 payable in one lump sum. The tenure of the scholarship is for one year only. Completed application forms and any supporting documentation should be scanned and emailed (preferably as a single pdf document) to the Graduate Research School on scholarships.grs@unsw.edu.au by the specified closing date.

2011-2012 Steinbeck Fellows Program, USA: Creative writing, including drama, creative nonfiction, and biography

The Steinbeck Fellows Program of San José State University (SJSU), which was endowed through the generosity of Martha Heasley Cox, offers new writers of any age and background the opportunity to pursue a significant writing project while in residence at SJSU. The emphasis of the program is on helping emerging writers, which generally means someone who has had some success, but has not published extensively, and whose promising work would be aided by the financial support and sponsorship of the Center and the Unviersity’s cretive writing program.
The Steinbeck Fellowship Program is named in honor of author John Steinbeck and is guided by his lifetime of work in literature, the media, and environmental activism. The program offers the opportunity to interact with other writers, faculty and graduate students, and to share their work in progress by giving a public reading once each semester during the fellowship.  The fellowships afford a stipend of $10,000. Housing assistance is available, depending upon need. Residency in the San José area is required during the academic year (approximately 1 September – 20 May).
