2011 Research Position at University of Oslo in Statistics, Norway

The Department of Mathematics is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The department has three sections: Mathematics, Mechanics, and Statistics and Insurance Mathematics. The position is affiliated with the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics, which currently has 11 full-time academic positions, 3 adjunct positions, and 7 PhD students.

Much of the research at the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics is organized in the research group for Statistics and Biostatistics. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has appointed the group as one of the top-tier research groups at the faculty. The research of the group focuses on methodological and applied problems in statistics; in particular many research projects originate in the use of statistics in biology, medicine, and technological and economic risk assessments.

Full Funded Scholarships for PhD Students in Film Studies at University of St Andrews, UK

In May 2011 we will award one full funded studentships to an exceptional candidate, to enable them to pursue Film Studies at St Andrews from  September 2011. The award will support three full years of Ph.D. study, and is available to candidates from within or outside the UK/EU. The scholarship will be awarded by competition. Applicants are invited to apply via the Postgraduate Office for a place on the programme, and their applications will be considered for this scholarship along with those of other applicants. To be eligible prospective students must have been offered a place on the PhD programme. We may also offer fee waiver scholarships to exceptional applications.  If you wish to be considered for the full studentship, and/or any possible fee waiver scholarships, please simply include a brief statement to that effect with your application. The PhD Programme offers three-years of supervision on your own research project, culminating in a dissertation.
In addition to your study there are a range of opportunities open to PhD students at St Andrews, typically including teaching undergraduate seminars from your second year onwards, a £300 annual travel fund (subject to annual budget confirmation) for conference travel and other related expenses, an annual £100 library book/DVD fund, experience of organising events like the annual Film Studies Postgraduate Conference and the Study Day (including applying for internal funding), experience giving shorter papers at conferences and longer papers for the Centre for Film Studies, dedicated in-house workshops on various aspects of academic life in Film Studies, etc.

RA Positions in Sustainable Livestock Based Farming System for Livelihood Security at GADVASU, India

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as Research Associate under NAIP sub-project entitled Sustainable Livestock Based Farming System for Livelihood Security in Hoshiarpur District of Punjab”. The appointment is purely on temporary and contractual basis for six months with renewal up to the completion of the project and will be liable for termination at any time in case of unsatisfactory performance. There is no provision for absorption/re-employment in ICAR/GADVASU after termination of the time bound project.
Name of the Sub-Project: “Sustainable Livestock Based Farming System for Livelihood Security in Hoshiarpur District of Punjab”. The project is field oriented and incumbents would be required to undertake extensive touring of the beneficiary families in the villages of four blocks of Hoshiarpur District with its central point at Talwara. Research Associates would be required to provide technical guidance to the farmers by organizing training programmes and field camps, delivery of input services, collection and compilation of information to study the impact of technology transfer on improved productivity of livestock, income and employment generation.
Eligibility: M. Sc / M. V. Sc / Ph. D (Any Discipline of Agriculture/ Animal Science/ Veterinary Science/ Home Science) Candidates with M.V. Sc degree, rural background and knowledge of Punjabi up to Matric level and who have cleared NET, will be preferred.  Preference will also be given to candidates having experience.
