Scholarship for PhD Student in Psychology, Uppsala University, Sweden

The project applies cognitive psychology to the question of how feedback and information should be designed to allow consumers of electricity to obtain as good control as possible of their electricity consumption. The research involves psychological laboratory experiments and computational modeling.

Qualifications: The applicant must have a basic university degree with psychology as a major subject.

Selection: The selection will be based on an assessment of the applicant’s aptitude for successful completion of graduate studies, made by the professors at the department. The bases for this judgment are the previously written research thesis, interviews (if deemed necessary), and finally, the plan for a research project.

Scholarship Application Deadline: 24 January 2011

Two Postdoctoral Positions, Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, Republic of Korea: Simulation Studies for green Technologies

An immediate opening for Two Postdoctoral Positions to perform simulation studies for green technologies at Dr. Sang Soo Han’s lab (please see Chem. Soc. Rev. 2009, 38, 1460-1476; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 11580-11581; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2007, 129, 8422-8423; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2007, 46, 6289-6292) in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS)
The detail topics are gas adsorption (H2 storage and CO2 capture) in metal-organic frameworks, batteries, or metal nanoparticles.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Material Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related discipline, and demonstrate a record of prior research accomplishments. Also, the candidates must expertise in the development and application of quantum or atomistic simulation methods (DFT, MD, or MC) for the materials and molecular modeling. Experience with a multi-scale simulation method would be a plus.

Interested candidates should send an email including a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of previous training/experiences and contact information of two or three references to Dr. Sang Soo Han (sangsoo-at-kriss.re.kr) for immediate consideration.
