Scholarship Description: Awarded annually to students on study permit who are entering an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta from high school on the basis of superior academic achievement (minimum award average of ~95% or equivalent) in Grades 10, 11, and 12. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

Conditions: Awarded annually to postsecondary students transferring into an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta based on superior academic achievement (minimum award average of 95% or equivalent) in Grades 10, 11, and 12 and on coursework completed at the postsecondary level. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

Scholarship Description: The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State sponsors the International Fulbright Science & Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students (Fulbright S&T) to provide exceptional foreign students with an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. study at top U.S. universities.

Fulbright S&T is designed to be the most prestigious international scholarship in science and technology and to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to welcoming top-notch future researchers and leaders to pursue serious scientific study and research at U.S. institutions.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree (comparable to a U.S. bachelor’s degree) on or before August 2012 and cannot reside in the U.S. at the time of application to the program. It is highly recommended that the applicant have received his/her bachelor’s degree in the same or a related field for which he/she plans to pursue Ph.D. study. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency with a recent TOEFL score (or equivalent) of 580 or higher

Grantees receive three years of funding from ECA followed by support from their U.S.host institution until the completion of Ph.D. programs.
Applications for the competition will be accepted starting February 1, 2011.

2010 NNPC/ESSO National Postgraduate Scholarship Awards

In continuation of its efforts to provide opportunities for developing careers in the petroleum industry, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL) awards scholarships to qualified Nigerian graduates who wish to pursue post-graduate studies in Nigerian Universities.

Applications in the underlisted disciplines will be considered:

  • Geosciences
  • Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Electronics, Marine, Mechanical, Petroleum and Sub-Sea)

Essential Requirements:

  1. Must be a graduate of a Nigerian University.
  2. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class upper division in any of the Engineering or Geosciences disciplines.
  3. Must have provisional admission into an accredited Nigerian University for postgraduate study (M.Sc or M.Eng) in the 2010/2011 academic session.

The NNPC/ESSO scholarship award applies to tuition, books, accommodation and up-keep expenses for the duration of the selected course of study.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to come with the original and a photocopy of the following documents for screening prior to taking the qualifying test:

  • Admission letter for postgraduate study
  • WAEC results
  • University transcripts

Names of short-listed candidates for the qualifying test will be published on the scholarship website and in National Dailies. These candidates will also be contacted with details of the qualifying test via SMS text and email.

Employees of ExxonMobil subsidiary companies in Nigeria and their dependents are not eligible for this scholarship.
