IMPRS-UFAST is a PhD programme which offers unique training opportunities in the field of ultrafast imaging with a view to exploring structural changes of atoms, molecules, condensed, biological, or warm dense matter on femtosecond time scales. Students work and research alongside an international and interdisciplinary team of experts with access to first-class research facilities and whilst obtaining a PhD degree. Our mission is to enable young scientists to achieve their full potential through supervised thesis research complemented by a multifaceted programme of lectures, interactive workshops and advanced courses. The duration of the programme is 3 years.
IMPRS-UFAST students normally graduate from the programme with a doctorate (Dr. rer. Nat, the German equivalent to a PhD) which is awarded by the University of Hamburg. The language of instruction is English and the Research School strives to attract a diversity of talented students from around the world. Funding in form of stipends and PhD contracts is available. Applicants will hold or are about to receive an MSc, a German “Diplom” or an equivalent degree in an area relevant to the programme. EADS Technology Masters applications will be considered by the Centennial Scholarship Panel at the same time as other Centennial Scholarship applications. In addition, a representative from EADS will also consider the application and make recommendations to the Panel.The decision of the Panel and EADS nominated representative is final and the other guidelines and award conditions that accompany the Centennial Scholarship scheme.

2011 Research Position at University of Oslo in Statistics, Norway

The Department of Mathematics is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The department has three sections: Mathematics, Mechanics, and Statistics and Insurance Mathematics. The position is affiliated with the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics, which currently has 11 full-time academic positions, 3 adjunct positions, and 7 PhD students.

Much of the research at the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics is organized in the research group for Statistics and Biostatistics. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has appointed the group as one of the top-tier research groups at the faculty. The research of the group focuses on methodological and applied problems in statistics; in particular many research projects originate in the use of statistics in biology, medicine, and technological and economic risk assessments.
