Call for Applications:PhD Fellowship at IMPRS for Molecular Biomedicine, Münster

3-year PhD projects range from studying molecular mechanisms of basic cellular processes to the analysis of the molecular basis of inflammatory and vascular diseases.
We offer outstanding research in high-profile laboratories as well as excellent scientific and “soft-skill” training aimed to strengthen the PhD students’ competences for their future careers. Students will receive a tax-free fellowship of 1365-1400 € per month.

IMPRS-MBM and CEDAD are open for highly qualified and motivated students of any nationality. We also encourage students who have obtained a Master’s degree at Münster University to apply for a IMPRS-MBM / CEDAD fellowship.

The next term will commence in October.

We are looking forward to your application for a PhD fellowship in Münster, “the world’s most liveable city” (LivCom Award 2004).

Research Fellow in Computational Models of Language Acquisition and Processing, Australia

The appointees will work on projects funded by Macquarie University and/or the Australian Research Council involving the development of computational models of language acquisition and on-line sentence processing. The language acquisition research uses non-parametric Bayesian models, which the appointee will be responsible for extending and applying to new domains. The on-line sentence processing research involves the development of an incremental CCG parsing model and using it as a language model in a speech disfluency detection and correction system. The appointees duties include carrying out research and data analysis, developing and extending mathematical models of language acquisition and comprehension, system design and implementation, as well as interacting with our growing research team and collaborating with other group members.

Research Fellow in Machine Learning and Computational Neurolinguistics, Australia

The Centre for Language Technology (CLT) invites applications for a Research Fellow position in Machine Learning and Computational Neurolinguistics. The appointee will work on projects funded by Macquarie University and/or the Australian Research Council. She/he will use statistical models and machine learning techniques to construct computational models of incremental human sentence processing (including incremental syntactic parsing), and use these to predict neural activity (measured using MEG and other imaging technologies) in human language processing.
Duties include carrying out research and data analysis, developing and extending mathematical models of language comprehension, model design and implementation, interacting and collaborating with our growing research team of computational linguists, machine-learning specialists and neuroscientists at Macquarie University.
Essential Criteria for appointment at Level A/B: PhD (or submitted PhD thesis) in computational linguistics or machine learning or equivalent experience; publications in the computational linguistics and/or machine learning; ability to develop and implement probabilistic models; a pragmatic attitude to system development; software engineering skills; excellent communication skills; ability to work as a member of a team.
