PhD Positions in Pedagogical Aspects on Mobile and Contextual Language Learning at VTT, Finland

VTT is launching second international graduate school in 2011 to attract new, PhD students. We are looking for 15 new PhD students (incl. one Post Doc Researcher) that are expected to contribute to development of our prominent technological competences. Success in this position requires a background in one or several of the following fields:
• Mobile and contextual learning
• Pedagogy
• Interest in media technology applications

2011-2012 ISEN Cluster Fellowships in Energy and Sustainability at Northwestern University, USA

The Graduate School (TGS) has awarded to the Initiative for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN) a Cluster on Energy and Sustainability, whose task is to promote research, development, education, outreach and communication at NU on these topics. This Cluster is central to ISEN’s graduate teaching program, which parallels another ISEN undergraduate teaching program. ISEN’s mission is to create, advance, and communicate new science, technology and policy for sustainability and energy. Its particular focus is on sustainable energy supply, demand and use. ISEN Cluster Fellows are exceptional students with deep interest in energy and sustainability, who will be identified with the Cluster for three quarters. During this time, they are expected to take three ISEN graduate core classes and participate in other ISEN activities (e.g. ISEN seminars and workshops). They will also be required to grade or TA one undergraduate ISEN course (at the level of 5-10 hrs per week) for one quarter. Finally, they will participate in regular Cluster Fellow Meetings,present their research, and represent ISEN, as appropriate, in judging panels for various student competitions related to energy and sustainability topics.Students will be awarded a full tuition scholarship and a stipend at the base TGS level for two of the three quarters. The stipend is expected to be increased by their graduate research advisers to the level guaranteed by their home graduate program. If applicants are unsure of the total amount of stipend that they will receive, they should check with their adviser.
Eligibility: Graduate students from all schools at Northwestern University are eligible to apply. At the time the Cluster award begins, the Fellows must have completed their first year as a graduate student at NU. Ideally, at the start of the ISEN Cluster, Fellows are in their second year of graduate study. Students who are already supported by external funding are eligible to apply.

Research Grant “Fortis Bank & MeesPierson Donation”, Netherlands

This grant is allocated to a researcher affiliated to a university in the Flemish Community or affiliated to the Evangelische Protestantse Faculteit in Leuven and the Faculteit voor Protestantse Godgeleerdheid in Brussels, or to a Flemish or a Federal institute for scientific research, in order to promote research in the area of civil engineering. If no project in this area fulfils the stated criteria will the donation will be used to promote research in the field of cancerology.

The candidates must have Belgian nationality or belong to one of the member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area (EU-countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) and have graduated from a Faculty of Applied Sciences or from a Faculty of Medicine.If this date falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, the closing date is moved to the following Monday at 17.00h. In order to ensure that all candidates get an equal chance, no bibliographical additions will be accepted after this date. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the FWO is not responsible for the temporary unavailability of the system. Therefore, we advise you to submit at least one to two weeks before the closing date.
