2011-2012 Masters Scholarships, Swansea University, UK: Environmental Biology Conservation and Resource Management, Environmental Dynamics and Climatic Change

These scholarships are part of the Access to Masters (ATM) programme backed by the Convergence European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Assembly Government.  Small and medium sized organisations located in the Convergence Area of Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea & Torfaen) are invited to participate in the muli-disciplinary initiative and benefit from a postgraduate research project tailored to meet the specific needs of the organisation as each MSc student will undertake a project assigned to an organisation. The School has a large number of fully-funded scholarships available for the following programmes: MSc Global Migration, Politics and Societ. MSc Environmental Biology: Conservation and Resource Management. MSc Environmental Dynamics and Climatic Change
Eligibility: 1Only Masters applicants from the UK or EU will be eligible, Applicants should hold (or be expecting to achieve) a minimum of a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) , Applicants should have already applied formally to the University for a place on one of the above programmes.   If you have not yet applied for a place to study, please visit the Admissions Office website for information regarding application. 2011 Young Scientist Research Award, Australia: Biological, Physical and Earth Sciences

The Royal Society of Victoria has established three prestigious prizes open to post-graduate – doctoral students in all areas of Biological, Physical and Earth Sciences. These prizes are designed to recognise good science and proovide students further experience in presenting information to an audience of scientists and the general public on their particular research field. Students have the opportunity, if they wish, to participate in the Society’s mentoring program, whereby they receive mentoring in their chosen field by senior scientists who are Members of the Society.

These prizes are awarded to students in their second to fourth year of their doctoral candidature at the time of application. Students should submit an extended abstract and application form by Tuesday, 31 May 2011. From these, the judges will select a short list of two to three candidates in each of the fields of Biological, Physical and Earth Sciences.Each of the short-listed candidates will give an oral PowerPoint presentation (15 minutes, 5 minutes discussion) before a general audience at the Society on Tuesday, 16 August 2011 commencing from 6:15 p.m. The winners are announced on the night and the monetary prize and certificate awarded.

2011 Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduates, Graduates and PhD, Germany: Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Engineering

We support undergraduates, graduates, and PhD students in all subjects who embrace the Green cause, share the fundamental values of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, can demonstrate an excellent academic record, and are socially and politically active. Our scholarship programme brings together students from all over the world.German students, students who have gained their university entrance qualification from a German school school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) and students from EU countries.Applicants must study a subject within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Enineering (university or college, e.g. Fachhochschule; degrees: Bachelor, Diploma, State Examination AND Master).Applicants studying for a first degree (degree: Bachelor, State Examination or Diploma) can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first three semesters at the time of application.

Applicants studying in a Master’s programme can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first semester of the Master’s programme at the time of application. Funding priority is given to subjects within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Engineering with a focus on sustainability and environmental and energy issues.
