University of Auckland Senior Health Research Scholarships, New Zealand: Medical & health science

The main purpose of the Scholarship is to attract health professionals to return to the University to study full-time for a PhD in a health-related area.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for registration for the degree of PhD as described in the PhD statue and will need to have an appropriate research program-me and provide evidence that it has been accepted by the proposed supervisor and the Head of the Department in which the Research is to be carried out. The University of Auckland Senior Health Scholarship may not be held concurrently with any other scholarship from The University of Auckland unless the University of Auckland Council so approves. To comply with the full-time study requirement in regulation 2, the amount of additional and paid work a Scholar may undertake either inside or outside the University shall not exceed a total of 500 hours in a calendar year. The University of Auckland Council has power to terminate or suspend a Scholarship, if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a Scholar from the Head of the host Department or Institute.

Small Grants Program in Science funded by Ian Potter Foundation, Australia: ecological sustainability of Australian biodiversity, future water management and the recovery of degraded landscapes

To support innovative scientific research by early career researchers who are well supported by and through their host institutions .To encourage the development of infrastructure available to early career researchers who are well supported by and through their host institutions .To back high quality scientific research directed at ecological sustainability of Australian biodiversity, future water management and the recovery of degraded landscapes. Purposes which are core to the operations of the organisation and should more appropriately be funded from institutional operating funds .Research projects for which there would be a reasonable prospect of attracting commercial funding.

The Foundation is able to support exceptional and visionary individuals, including those in their early career. Projects often link with the Foundation’s Environment & Conservation and Education programs.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for Foreign Researchers 2012-2013, Japan: Humanities, Social sciences and Natural sciences

The fellowship purpose is to provide opportunities for young postdoctoral researchers from other countries to conduct, under the guidance of their hosts, cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions. The program allows such researchers to advance their own research while contributing to the progress of research in Japan and the counterpart countries.
Applications for this program are submitted by a host researcher in Japan who wishes to host a foreign postdoctoral fellow. The applicant (host researcher) must be a researcher who is employed full-time or classified as being employed full-time (excluding Jokyo, assistant professors, and Joshu, research assistants) at a university or research institution that is eligible to apply to MEXT for funding under the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific-Research Program (Kakenhi) and approved by JSPS as an appropriate institution for hosting young foreign researchers.
The applicant must be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan (JSPS treats Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers in this manner.) He/she should have a doctorate degree when the Fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received on or after April 2, 2005, or be scheduled to receive a doctorate degree before the Fellowship goes into effect. The applicant must have arranged in advance a research plan with his/her Japanese host researcher.
Duration and commencement of fellowship:
For the 1st Recruitment: April 1, 2012 – September 30, 2012
For the 2nd Recruitment: September 1, 2012 – November 30, 2012
