SVS International Scholars Program for Young Vascular Surgeons, USA

The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) International Scholars Program provides scholarships to qualified young vascular surgeons from countries other than the United States or Canada. The four scholarships provide each scholar with an opportunity to participate in the 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting®, June 7-10, in Washington, DC, USA, and visit clinical, teaching, and research activities in the United States and Canada.

The winning scholars are publicly recognized at the Vascular Annual Meeting® and receive free admission to the postgraduate course plus admission to all lectures, demonstrations, and exhibits. The SVS International Relations Committee will assist the scholars in arranging visits following the SVS meeting to various clinics and universities of their choice.

Graduate Research Assistantship: Signalling Pathways in Cardiogenesis, Oxford University, UK

We are looking for a highly motivated graduate research assistant with a BSc and/or MSc in a relevant discipline, an interest in cell signalling, ideally with experience in cell culture, molecular cloning, transfections, cell-based luciferase assays, siRNA techniques (including high-throughput screening), and microscopy. The candidate will work together with a postdoctoral fellow on cell signalling pathways (e.g. BMP, WNT, HH, NOTCH, FGF) that are important in heart formation using cell-based assays.

The post is available from 1 June 2011 for up to five years, and is funded by a British Heart Foundation Programme Grant Award to Professor Shoumo Bhattacharya. Our laboratory is located at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, which provides an outstanding working environment, with excellent core facilities and opportunities for interactions.

Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarships 2011 in UK

Scholarships are offered to international students of outstanding ability from outside the European Union.A number of scholarships are offered to Mathematics students of outstanding ability from countries outside the European Union.The scholarships are worth £1,000 per year and tenable for the duration of the programme of study, subject to satisfactory progress.Scholarship cheques are handed to the winners at an award ceremony at the beginning of the academic session.This scholarship is competitive and based on academic merit.It is awarded to applicants from countries outside the European Union who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate Mathematics degree programme at the University.The scholarship is not available to students already on programme.

Applicants should have applied through the University and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) and been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh by the scholarship.
