DRD Scholarships for the PhD for Applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa: Governance, Public Policy, Public Management or Development Studies

Applicants should have an excellent academic record in the field they are applying for, or in a related field of study. Only students with an average upper second or first class grade for their previous degree(s) will be considered. Please submit
• a letter of application,
• the DAAD application form (available for download from the scholarship section),
• a CV,
• an academic transcript from your last university,
• certified copies of all academic certificates
• two academic references, to be submitted separately by the referee, and clearly indicating
your name
• a research proposal

Town, South Africa. Please also notify us by e-mail if you submit a hard copy by mail, as mail can sometimes be slow and unreliable. It is much safer to submit by email. If you send a hard copy, please allow about 6 – 8 weeks for it to reach us. Please make sure that your application is complete, as no incomplete submissions will be considered.

Scholarship applicants should have an excellent academic record in any social science, economics or in public administration and other management sciences. • a letter of application, motivating your application
• the DAAD application form (available for download from the scholarship section)
• a CV, also indicating relevant work experience as intern or as employee
• an academic transcript from your last university
• certified copies of all academic certificates
• two academic references, to be submitted separately by the referee, and clearly indicating

• the proposed topic of your masters thesis

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan for the Academic Year 2011-12

Commonwealth under its Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) has offered various scholarships / fellowships for the Academic year 2011-12. This activity has been made possible largely by the success of the CSFP endowment fund, which was raised to mark the 50th Anniversary of the scheme last year, as well as generosity of the host institutions. The new destinations are Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa, South Africa and Tanzania. The details are as under:

Eligibility Criteria:
The Applicant:
a.  Should not have obtained below 70% marks in entire academic career (SSC, HSC, BA/BSc, Masters)
b.  Should have obtained at least 65% or above marks in Masters (MS/MSc or other 16 years of education or in BE/BSc Engineering, MBBS, LLB, MBA, or equivalent.
c.   With completed sixteen (16) years or equivalent bachelor’s degree for Master’s studies.
d.   With MS/ M. Phil completed degree will be given preference in PhD studies.
e.    With PhD completed degree will be given preference in Post Doctoral / Research studies.
f.     Should be fulfilling the respective university’s eligibility criteria of the course / degree, in which he / she is interested to apply.
g.   Applying in only one program, country as well as course
Scholarship Application Deadline:May 13, 2011 for Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Pacific and Tanzania
and May 31, 2011 for South Africa.
