DAAD-IAESTE Internship Programme 2011, Germany: Natural and Technical Sciences

Practical training placements with various firms, institutions of higher education and research institutes for students are arranged by the “International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Expertise” (IAESTE).
Students of natural and technical sciences, agriculture and forestry registered at an Indian University.
A DAAD stipend of Euro 650 per month to cover living expenses,
• Health, liability and accident insurance.
All applicants must be registered students at a university or an institution of higher education for the whole period of training and must have at least one semester remaining after the completion of his internship in Germany.
• Internship has to be an integral part of the ongoing study program.
• The language proficiency should be in accordance with the requirement of the job description mentioned in Form O.

MathMods – Erasmus Mundus MSc Scholarship

2-year Master’s Course called MathMods – Mathematical Modelling in Engineering: Theory, Numerics, Applications.
Courses are given in English and students will be spending their 2 years in at least two of the five European universities that made up the MathMods Consortium:
– University of L’Aquila, Italy
– Autonomous University of Barcelona, Catalonia
– University of Hamburg, Germany
– Gdansk University of Technology, Poland
– University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis, France. Applicants must have obtained a recognized Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BSc, SB, etc.) – or a degree at the same level of an academic Bachelor’s Degree, for instance its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing, or 180 ECTS credits in the European system – in one of the following (or equivalent) fields:
* Applied Mathematics
* Mathematics with a good background in Physics
* Physics with a good background in Mathematics
* Engineering with a large background in Mathematics and Physics.

Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on condition that their Bachelor’s degree is awarded before the enrolment on MathMods MSc. The accomplishment of the Bachelor’s studies must be documented no later than 15 August 2011.

All applicants whose native language is not English are required to prove a satisfactory level of spoken and written English, certified by:

* TOEFL: minimum 550 for PBT / 213 for CBT / 80 for IBT. You may send the TOEFL certificate simply as a photocopy or you may send it directly through ETS. Use these data when adding us as a new score recipient: Code number: 3676, Institution: University of L’Aquila.
* IELTS: 6.0 points
* CPE: Grades A, B, C
* CAE: Grades A, B
* or equivalent to the above.

The test must have been taken within the four years immediately preceding the requested semester of admission and be valid at the time of enrolment.

If applicants don’t have an English certificate by the deadline, we may also accept a temporary certificate by the Director/Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree study programme (or an academic in that group) stating that the applicant is so fluent in English that s/he can understand and discuss high level scientific topics. If possible, the letter should be signed either by a native English speaker academic full Professor or by an academic full Professor in English language (with full contacts included). Then, if you are selected, you will have to send an official certificate (see the list above) no later than 15 August 2011.

DESY International Summer Student Program 2011, Germany: Photon Science and particle physics

DESY is one of the world‘s leading accelerator centers forinvestigatingthe structure of matter. DESY develops and builds large particle acceleratorsand conducts research inthe fields of photon science and particle physics. The research facilities of DESY are used by a large international community of scientists.
Each summer DESY offers students in physics or related natural science disciplines the opportunity to participate in its research activities at Hamburg and Zeuthen (close to Berlin). Students can apply to join either the elementary particle physics
and accelerators or the photon science part of this summer student program.
In both programs students take part in the work of research groups and attend lectures related to the research at DESY.
Qualified applicants should have completed three years of full time studies on a university level by summer 2011. All participating students will obtain financial support.
