China/UNESCO-The Great Wall Fellowship 2011

China/UNESCO — the Great Wall Fellowship program is a full scholarship program set up by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) for candidates recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.

This program sponsors general scholars and senior scholars, and in principle the courses will be taught in English with duration up to one year. Candidates who choose programs taught in Chinese are required to get the approval from both CSC and UNESCO on application. With the approval, their scholarship duration will be extended automatically for another year.

Application
Applicants shall apply to the National Commission for UNESCO in their home countries between January and April, 2011.

Criteria & Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
– Applicants for general scholar program must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45.
– Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above or hold academic title of associate professor or above and be under the age of 50.

Values of Sponsorship
– Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, and fee for basic learning materials; and accommodation fee for dormitory on campus;
– Living allowance;
– One-off settlement subsidy after registration;
– Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Program for International Students in China;
– One-off inter-city travel subsidy.

Indo-Bulgarian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Call for Proposals–2011: Information Technology, Metal Sciences and New Materials

Faculty, Scientists and Academicians belonging to Universities, Deemed Universities and ResearchInstitutes
Scholarship Description: With a view to intensify interaction and the scientific cooperation between Indian and Bulgarian Scientists/Institutions, Department of Science and Technology (DST) for the Government of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science (MEYS) for the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria, extend support for joint research projects involving exchange of visits, workshops/conferences.

Faculty, Scientists and Academicians belonging to Universities, Deemed Universities and ResearchInstitutes having permanent positions can apply as Principal Investigator (PI). In order to qualify for suchfunding, investigators are required to have a concrete and sound research proposal on any of the following areas metioned above.

Funding:
Grants offered within this call is strictly limited to participants mobility (travel costs and daily subsistence allowances) within the framework of well-defined and approved Indo-Bulgarian research projects normally of two to three year duration. The sending side shall cover the expenses on international travel (including overseas medical insurance) up to the capital city/city of arrival in the host side both ways. The receiving side shall arrange the in-country travel of the visiting scientists from the capital city/city of arrival to the place of the institute to be visited by appropriate means and living expenses. The local hospitality terms for visiting scientists in each others’ host country are as follows:
For Indian scientists: paid accommodation and a daily allowance an allowance up to Leva 900 per month or Leva 36 per day (if the stay is for less than 21 days).
For Bulgarian scientists: paid accommodation and a daily allowance of Rs.1,000/- per day in case of short term visit (up to 21 days) and Rs. 25,000/- per month in case of long term visit (more than 21 days) towards food and out of pocket allowances.

2011 Anneliese Maier Research Award for Outstanding Researchers from Abroad, Germany: Humanities and Social Science

Every year the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants up to five Anneliese Maier Research Awards funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to outstanding researchers from abroad to promote research collaboration with specialist colleagues in Germany, contributing towards the further internationalisation of the humanities and social sciences in Germany.
The award amount is generally EUR 250,000 and is made available over a period of five years to finance research collaboration with specialist colleagues in Germany.
In addition to researchers who already number among the established leaders in their subject, the award is also aimed at researchers who are not yet so advanced in their scientific careers but who are already internationally established researchers from whom a sustainable shaping of the humanities and social sciences in Germany can be expected through the prospects of long-term collaboration. Particular importance is attached to the nomination of qualified female researchers.
