The Open Society Foundations and Staffordshire University Business School jointly invite applications from university graduates with outstanding academic qualifications for five scholarships on the MPhil/PhD in Economics programme by Distance Learning mode.  This scheme aims to support the reform of the higher education system in Central and East European countries by providing opportunities for younger university teachers and researchers to gain access to West European higher education and to pursue research in Economics at an advanced level, leading to an MPhil or a PhD degree

International PhD at Vienna PhD School of Informatics 2011-2012, Vienna

The PhD School is located at TU Vienna and admits Austrian as well as international students annually. TU Vienna invites applications for a maximum of 15 PhD scholarships per year.The Vienna PhD School of Informatics involves an intense period of supervised study and research, culminating in the submission of a thesis. The duration of the PhD School is three years. The degree is awarded to candidates who, through original investigation, make a distinct and significant contribution to knowledge in their field of specialisation.

The PhD-School’s curriculum covers the main research areas of the Faculty of Informatics. In addition, it may also imply cooperation with other TU Vienna faculties. The school is designed to facilitate the integration of industry, either by defining joint research issues, by offering workplaces (with well-defined research related tasks) during summer breaks, or by sponsoring.

TU Vienna aims at positioning this PhD School of Informatics at a high level of excellence within the international community. The vision is to increase both the quality and the quantity of excellent young researchers in the field of informatics.

Fully Funded PhD Fellowships,K.U.Leuven Doctoral School Biomedical Sciences, Belgium

The mission of the K.U.Leuven International Doctoral School Biomedical Sciences (Belgium) is to train young biomedical researchers to explore the fundamentals of living systems at all levels – from gene to cell to body and mind – and to leverage that knowledge to improve human health. For 2011 we can offer up to 16 fully-funded PhD positions in the following doctoral school programs:
Cancer: 1 fellowship
Cell Signaling and Therapeutics: 1 fellowship
Cognitive and Molecular Neuroscience: 2 fellowships
Drug Design and Development: From Target to Market: 2 fellowships
Immunology and Microbiology: 1 fellowship
Mechanisms of Human Disease: 2 fellowships
Molecular and Developmental Genetics: 2 fellowships
Molecular and Stem Cell Medicine: 5 fellowships
These positions are fully funded for 4 years.
Successful applicants will perform doctoral research under the supervision of a promoter who is affiliated to one of the doctoral school programs. In addition, the doctoral training includes thematic education and encourages PhD students to develop transferable skills. PhD students are expected to finalize the doctoral training and research within a period of four years. Applications are invited from enthusiastic (under)graduates in any relevant biomedical area with an excellent study track record.
