PhD and MRes Studentships in University of Ulster 2011/2012 in UK: Arts Life , Health Sciences,Art, Design and the Built Environment Social Sciences,Computing and Engineering

The University invites applications for admission to full-time research studies commencing in September 2011.  Studentships will be available for selected applicants.A one-year full-time programme leading to the award of Master of Research in Arts is also available and it is anticipated that awards will be available for selected applicants.To be considered for entry, applicants should hold, or expect to hold by 15 August 2011 a first or upper second class honours degree, or equivalent, in a subject relevant to the proposed research topic. Specific project details, see Faculty Project Pages below and application materials are available on the University.The projects will be advertised at the end of January 2011.

Interviews will form part of the selection process and are likely to be held during the period late March, April to early May 2011. Selected applicants will be contacted with further details shortly after the closing date.Awards may be directed to some areas in preference to others on the basis of the number and quality of applications received and the University’s strategic approach to the support of research activity 2011 in  University of Ulster.

International Phd Position: Corrosion and Electrochemical Behaviour of Ufg/Ns and Glassy Ti Biomaterials, Germany

The appointment will be on a temporary basis for a maximum period of 3 years (PhD student, regular employment contract).
The remuneration will be in line with the EC rules for Marie Curie grant holders (Early-Stage Researchers, ITN).
Requirements:
The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English.
The candidate should hold a Masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Chemistry and should have experience with experimental research.
Eligibility:
The candidate must have no PhD and less than 4 years’ research experience.
The applicant must not have spent more than 12 months in the country (Germany) of the host/recruiting institution in the 3 years prior to selection.

PhD Scholarship in NMR Spectroscopy, DTU, Denmark

A PhD scholarship within NMR spectroscopy is available at DTU Chemistry. It will be part of a larger project entitled “Enzymatic production of human milk oligosaccharides” supported by the Danish Council for Strategic Research. The main objective of the PhD project is structure elucidation of both enzymatic as well as synthetically produced oligosaccharides and other natural products by NMR spectroscopy. The project will also include development of new methodology for absolute structure determination by NMR and application of residual dipolar couplings in structure calculations.

Qualifications
* Candidates should have a master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering preferentially with a theoretical and experimental background in NMR spectroscopy and organic chemistry
* A strong commitment to research
Applicants should have a thorough interest in NMR spectroscopy. The position offers an opportunity to work within an international, dynamic multi-disciplinary project having participants from both universities and industry.
