The Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science provides an optimal environment for pursuing doctoral studies in computer science at an internationally competitive level. As a student, you undergo research oriented training and experience a stimulating and scientifically challenging atmosphere. Advised by internationally renowned scientists, you can participate in one of the many research groups and find your way into top notch research.
Talented students with strong interest in research who hold a Masters or an excellent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or in a related field can apply.
Financial support during both phases (of course assuming adequate progress) will be provided. During the preparatory phase starting after your BSc degree, this support comes in the form of scholarships (800 € per month) or teaching and research support contracts. During the research and dissertation phase, you are supported in the form of stipends (about 1400 € per month) or of research or teaching assistantships.
There are currently no tuition fees, only a student fee of 140 € per semester which gives you free access to public transportation and reduced student rates at the university cafeteria and for many other public services (museums, concerts).

PhD Position in Psychology at Free University of Berlin, Germany

Individual-specific patterns of behaviour (personality differences) are increasingly studied in nonhuman primates, but systematic descriptions and categorisations are still lacking for many species. We seek to develop such descriptions for several simian and great ape species using non-invasive behaviour tests and observations, and sophisticated methodological and statistical approaches.

You will be based at Freie Universität Berlin, an internationally renowned network university, where you will have the opportunity to learn highly developed methodological approaches, statistics, techniques for recording and coding behaviour, and to write a PhD thesis. Work will include active engagement in an international and multidisciplinary research team including Dr. Jana Uher, Freie Universität Berlin and Dr. Elisabetta Visalberghi, CNR laboratory in Rome, Italy. Your tasks will be to develop non-invasive behavioural tests and observation schemes, to use them to collect behavioural data in captive Capuchin monkeys from collaborating research institutions in Europe, to apply psychometric statistic analyses, prepare scientific publications, and help building up an international and interdisciplinary research network.

Requirements
Excellent Diploma, Masters, or equivalent university degree in psychology. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated
research associate who is interested in differential and personality psychology, comparative psychology, behavioural sciences, and primate
research. Profound background in methods and statistics (esp. MTMM; FA, HLM), experience with or deep interest in behavioural measurement and primates; and excellent knowledge of English are required. Applicants are expected to read all information and research articles available at the project website. If shortlisted for interviews, they will be asked questions about these articles. Applicants are also expected to travel and stay abroad temporarily, be capable of independent analytical thinking, be self-organised, efficient, be responsible in their work, and engage actively in a multidisciplinary team. The working language is English; knowledge of or willingness to learn elementary Italian and German is required.

The Kulture Klub Collaborative Artist Fellowships Positions in New york Foundation Organization, UK

The College wishes to recruit an Associate Research Fellow to work on improving the understanding of interactions between hydrology, physical processes and land surface and vegetation feedbacks with a view to constraining predictions of future changes. The post is part of the HYDRA project funded under the NERC Changing Water Cycle programme and is available immediately for a fixed term period of three years.

HYDRA is a collaboration between Exeter Climate Systems at the University of Exeter, climateprediction.net at the University of Oxford, the UK Met Office Hadley Centre and CEH Wallingford. The successful applicant will work closely with Professor Peter Cox, Dr Hugo Lambert and Dr Ben Booth and will be 50% based at the UK Met Office.

The project will produce new sets of General Circulation Model (GCM) experiments that explore uncertainties associated with model formulation that influence hydrology. The simulations will be run under the climateprediction.net distributed computing architecture. The successful applicant will help to set-up and run some of the experiments and then analyse model data and observations to explore processes controlling changes the hydrological and carbon cycles. The fellow will have considerable latitude to pursue avenues in which they are interested.

Applicants must possess a PhD in climate science or a related discipline and have an interest in understanding large-scale changes in the climate system. Applicants will have the potential to carry out creative and independent research, and to publish in the peer-reviewed literature. Experience of working with complex numerical models, particularly Met Office Hadley Centre GCMs, would be an advantage.

The starting salary will be from £24,273 to £26,523 pa on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
