As part of our continued pledge to invest in research excellence we are delighted to announce the availability of 12 fully-funded PhD bursary places.At least six of the bursaries will be awarded in the following world-leading research areas. Art and Design, Biological / Biomedical Sciences, Communication, Culture and Media Studies, English, Physical Sciences / Technology, Social Policy, In addition, up to six bursaries are available to further enhance developing excellence in NTU’s internationally leading research areas.The studentships will pay UK / EU fees and provide a maintenance stipend linked to the RCUK rate (£13,590 per annum for 2011/12) for up to three years.

HSCST Fellowship Programme, India: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences.

In order to attract talented and meritorious students, HSCST is offering research fellowships in Science subjects.  The fellowships will involve full time research work leading to Ph D degree in the relevant subject areas from any of the Institute/University in Haryana.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by CSIR. Candidates who have opted for CSIR-JRF and have at least qualified CSIR- LS NET will be selected on the basis of their performance in NET for carrying out their PhD work in any of the University/Institute in Haryana.

Eligibility

M.Sc. or equivalent degree in any of the subjects in above broad subject areas, with minimum 55% marks; and should have opted for CSIR JRF (NET) and were able to qualify eligibility test for Lecturership-NET in joint CSIR-UGC Test for JRF and LS (NET) held on 20.06.10. Candidates availing fellowship/ financial assistance from any other source will not be eligible.

Age Limit
The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years as on 1.1.2010, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC applicants.

Stipend & Tenure
Rs 12,000/ p.m for a period of first 2 years as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Rs 14,000/- p.m as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the 3rd and subsequent year subject to terms and conditions alongwith annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000/- to the University / Institution.
Tenure of the fellowship will be 3 years extendable to 4th and 5th year as per terms & conditions of the programme. The total tenure as JRF plus SRF will not exceed five years.

4-Year PhD Studentships in Energy Research, University of Sheffield, UK

An award from the EPSRC for a Doctoral Training Centre in Interdisciplinary Energy Research (E-Futures) is centred on a 4-year PhD programme aimed at graduates of a physical sciences discipline, or a related subject that includes some degree of numerical or statistical analysis (e.g. physical geography, biology, economics, psychology etc) who already have or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree.
