Masters, PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows Positions, Laboratory of Cytokine Biology, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel

Major scientific projects of the laboratory include:

1). The role of inflammation in the malignant process (carcinogenesis, tumor invasion and metastasis, tumor angiogenesis and interactions of the tumor with the host’s immune system).
2). Interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor and Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling in sterile inflammation and angiogenesis in the malignant process
3). Mechanisms and signaling pathways of novel intracellular non-secretable isoforms of the cytokine IL-1a.
4). Intervention in IL-1 expression in anti-tumor therapeutic approaches.

Techniques used in the laboratory include tissue culture and in vitro

work, molecular biology techniques and in vivo work. These are applied to cutting-edge issues in cytokine and tumor immunobiology, stem cell biology and angiogenesis. Excellent teamwork and atmosphere.

DCC Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania, USA: Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism (DCC)

Beginning in January 2011, the Penn Program on Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism (DCC) invites applications for a one-year DCC Postdoctoral Fellow in any discipline whose research is pertinent to the Program’s 2011-2012 theme, “Corporations and Citizenship.”  The Program welcomes both empirical and normative scholarship, focused globally or on particular nations, regions, or communities, that explores the various ways that modern corporations are acting and should act as legal and social citizens, as well as the implications of modern corporate statuses and conduct for democracy and constitutional governance at local, national, and international levels.
The Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism program is an interdisciplinary initiative, funded by the Mellon Foundation, which includes a faculty seminar series and annual conference on themes chosen by the Program’s Faculty Advisory Council; a graduate workshop series; and undergraduate research grants. The DCC Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to participate in the faculty seminar series, teach an Undergraduate Seminar on a related topic, and attend monthly meetings to discuss the progress of undergraduates receiving research grants. The Fellow also has the opportunity to pursue the Fellow’s research and study and participate generally in the intellectual life of the Penn community. Stipend is $53,800, plus health insurance.

Postdoctoral Fellowships, Max Planck Center for Visual Computing and Communication , Germany

The Max Planck Center for Visual Computing and Communications offers young scientists postdoctoral fellowships . The center includes an outstanding group of faculty members at Stanford’s Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Departments, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and Saarland University.

The program begins with a preparatory 1-2 year postdoc phase (Phase P) at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, followed by a two-year appointment at Stanford University (Phase I) as a visiting assistant professor, and then a position at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics as a junior research group leader (Phase II). However, the program can be entered flexibly at each phase, commensurate with the experience of the applicant.

Who should apply
Applicants to the program must have completed an outstanding PhD. Exact duration of the preparatory postdoc phase is flexible, but we typically expect this to be about 1-2 years. Applicants who completed their PhD in Germany may enter Phase I of the program directly. Applicants for Phase II are expected to have completed a post-doc stay abroad and must have demonstrated their outstanding research potential and ability to successfully lead a research group.

Scholarship Application Deadline: 31 March 2011
