Postgraduate Position in Human Geography, Sweden

The doctoral candidate programme amounts to 240 credits (equivalent to four years of full time study). It formally ends with the doctoral candidate publicly defending his/her printed doctoral thesis. The holder of a postgraduate position has as his/her primary obligation to successfully fulfill his/her third cycle education ending with a PhD degree. Regulations concerning appointment as a full time postgraduate student can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, 1-7 §§.
The holder of a postgraduate position is expected to participate actively in the research and teaching environment of the Department. He/she will normally have to perform departmental duties, above all teaching, amounting to about 20 per cent of full time.
The position is placed at the Department of Human Geography, but the employee will actively participate in the activities of the Research School at the Lund University Centre of Excellence for Integration of Social and Natural Dimensions of Sustainability.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements
To be eligible for third cycle studies an applicant must
1. Have been awarded a second cycle degree
2. Have completed studies the equivalent of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at the second cycle level, or
3. Have acquired comparable qualifications in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

2011 Chancellor’s International Scholarships, University of Sussex, UK

Up to forty Chancellor’s International Scholarships of £3,000 are available to new overseas fee paying students each year who are applying to study at Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught degree level. The scholarships are available in the majority of Sussex Schools, and are awarded on the basis of academic performance and potential. The scholarships are offered for the duration of the degree programme, subject to satisfactory progress, and will be paid directly into your UK bank account or credited towards your tuition fees.

  • Have applied for and accepted a place to start an Undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex (e.g., BA, BSc, BEng, LLB, MEng, etc), or a Postgraduate taught degree (e.g., MA, MSc, LLM, MRes, Postgraduate Diploma, and Graduate Diploma) excluding the following degrees:
    * Programmes in the Institute of Development Studies, apart from the MA Gender and Development
    * MSc in Social Research Methods + DPhil combined (1+3 degrees)
    * BMBS degree in Medicine in the Brighton and Sussex Medical School
    * International foundation years, International Year One Diploma in Business and Management, and Pre-masters
    * Pre-Masters Degrees and Diplomas taught at partner colleges which are validated by Sussex.
    •Note: Applicants for Research degrees (e.g., MPhil, DPhil/PhD, EdD), current Sussex undergraduate students (except those applying to start a master’s degree), are not eligible to apply.
    Applications for places on our degree programmes must be made via UCAS for Undergraduate study, and on the Sussex website or Postgraduate Application form for Postgraduate study.
    •Be assessed as liable to pay fees at the “overseas” (namely the non-EU) rate.
    •Have sufficient funds to meet your tuition fees and living expenses, after taking account of the possible award of a Chancellor’s International Scholarship.
  • Students accepting a Chancellor’s International Scholarship may be required to undertake occasional promotional or support duties for the University of Sussex at times agreed between the student and the University.

    Arrow- Hawkesbury Canoe Classic PhD Scholarships, Australia: Health Sciences

    Since its establishment, Arrow has allocated funds for basic research as part of its charter. It has also provided scholarships and grants to support PhD students and research fellows.
    The Arrow-HCC Scholarships supplement PhD students who have already been awarded the Australian Postgraduate Award.The Scholarship is a biomedical research scholarship in the area of leukaemia and bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.The Scholarship is advertised in all medical and bioscience faculties in NSW, ACT and Victoria and an independent panel of three doctors/academics assesses the applications.
    The successful applicants are requested to give due recognition to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation as the provider of the Scholarship and may at times be asked to address both Arrow and its members and the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic Association.These awards are made possible by the ongoing support of the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic, Arrow’s major supporter for the last 13 years.
