DRD Scholarships for the MA and M Econ in Development Studies for Applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa

Scholarship applicants should have an excellent academic record in any social science, economics or in public administration and other management sciences. Only students with an average upper second or first class grade for their previous degree(s) will be considered. For Information on the courses offered can be obtained on www.uwc.ac.za (go to Institutes, then to Institute for Social Development).
Please submit
• a letter of application, motivating your application
• the DAAD application form (available for download from the scholarship section)
• a CV, also indicating relevant work experience as intern or as employee
• an academic transcript from your last university
• certified copies of all academic certificates
• two academic references, to be submitted separately by the referee, and clearly indicating
your name
• the proposed topic of your masters thesis

2011 PhD Cavendish Research Scholarship at University of Westminster, UK

Full tuition fee waiver, available over three years subject to satisfactory academic progress. Eligibility: You must be from a developing country and plan to study a postgraduate research programme (MPhil or PhD) in any sciences or technology subject at the Cavendish Campus. Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need. Please note that you must first be accepted on a PhD programme at the University before applying and that the deadlines for this are earlier than the scholarships deadlines.

2012-2013 IAH Fellowships at College of Arts and Sciences, University of North Carolina, USA: arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences

IAH Faculty Fellowships provide semester-long fellowships on campus for UNC faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences to pursue research and projects for publication, exhibition, composition and performance. The program provides funding for each Fellow’s department to cover their semester leave and pays for the weekly seminar, during which the IAH provides a meal for each class of eight to 12 Fellows to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from other disciplines. IAH Fellowships support work related to the arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences.
Eligibility: IAH Faculty Fellowships are awarded for proposals that are related in some important way to the arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences. Professors in tenure-track positions of all ranks are encouraged to apply. The Institute seeks a blend of ranks and disciplines for each class of Fellows. Faculty members may apply for an IAH Fellowship as early as their second year at UNC-Chapel Hill. Persons holding fixed-term appointments who are in at least their fourth year are also eligible if they will be returning to their department the following semester Past Fellows may apply for an IAH fellowship in the fifth year after their previous award. Joint proposals from two faculty members are also accepted.
