Fulbright Egyptian Scholar Program, USA

This Program provides opportunities for Egyptian post-doctoral faculty members, professionals, and independent scholars to conduct research at American institutions.  Grant duration ranges from three to nine months.

Grant Types:
Arts Management Grants: Professionals in arts management and administration to pursue individual and/or structured programs of study designed to enhance their managerial capabilities
Lecturing/Research Grants at Selected American Universities: For scholars in the fields of: Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, Arabic World History, Culture and Language to lecture and conduct research at selected American institutions.  Awards are jointly funded by the Commission and its partner institutions.
Research Grants: For scholars in the humanities, sciences, or social sciences to conduct research at American institutions.

10 Doctoral Scholarships, The Research Training Group “Transnational Social Support”, Germany: Social Work, Education,Social Sciences

The Research Training Group (RTG) is located at the University of Hildesheim Foundation (Faculty of Education and Social Sciences) and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Institute of Social Work and Education), both Germany. It pursues the theoretical and empirical study of transnational structures and processes of social support, which is analyzed in the field of transmigration and in the context of transnational organizations within three research areas. The research area “Transnational Family Care” focuses on analyzing the transnationalisation of family relationships with respect to assistance, nursing, and care. The research area Transnational Networks addresses forms and processes of social support developed by transnational communities and migrant transnational organization. The research area Transnational Professional Support focuses on transnational challenges faced by local social services and will study professional concepts of social support in the context of transnational organization.

Applicants for a doctoral scholarship need to have a university degree (MA) in Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, Law or Psychology and to have an exceptional track record of academic accomplishment. Applicants need to be familiar with the subject matter of the RTG, possess relevant knowledge of empirical social research, and have foreign language skills. International experience is desirable. The University of Hildesheim and the University of Mainz recognise a need for an increased proportion of women in research and teaching. In the case of equally qualified candidates, women will be given preference over men. In the case of equally qualified candidates, those with a disability will be given preference.

2011 AXA PhD Fellowships, King’s College London, UK: Finance and Economics, Science, Technology, Social sciences

Applicants must have completed a Masters degree before they commence their PhD. There is no age restriction. The AXA Research Fund is seeking to provide support to  Students who wish to undertake a Ph.D. in a member state of the European Union or in one of the associated countries according to the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7)1. In such cases, the Fund does not impose any conditions regarding the nationality of the applicant or the country of the laboratory where the master was undertaken. – Students who are citizens of one of the member states of the European Union or one of the associated countries according to the FP71, and who have obtained their master in one of these same countries. In such cases, the Fund does not impose any conditions regarding the country of the Ph.D.’s host laboratory.
The selection criteria are as follows:
1. The applicant’s academic excellence, judged on the high standard of his or her master and the quality of previous course work.
2. The originality of the Ph.D. project, its feasibility (access to the resources, etc.) and the impact of its potential outcomes.
3. The international scope of the host research laboratory.
Students who would like to be considered for the AXA PhD Fellowship are asked to discuss this with their supervisor/Department. It will be the responsibility of the academic Departments/Schools to nominate a limited number or their chosen candidates to the Graduate School for selection.
