In order to maximize their reach, the schemes are open to applicants (aged 55 years or less on the date of application) from all areas of Life Sciences / biology (including Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Medicine and Bio-Engineering).
Scheme I – Research Grant Opportunity (RGO):
The programme aims at giving project grants to women scientists (employed & unemployed) for whom it would be a first grant. The purpose is to build capacities for women scientists employed fulltime in Universities and small research laboratories or unemployed women scientist after a career break so as to help them undertake independent R&D projects. Under this scheme the women scientists who are unemployed will be provided monthly emoluments ranging from Rs. 35,000/- to 45,000/- p.m. The employed women scientists in addition to salary will get an amount of Rs.5,000/- p.m as an incentive.

Photonics is constantly growing and brings together today a large range of interdisciplinary activities in health, environment, energy, transport and telecommunications, with either immediate or long term social and economic outcomes. Photonics plays a key part in the discovery of new processes in nature and novel technologies, with an undeniable incidence on fundamental knowledge developments but also on the market novelties.
This two years master program is organized by three groups of institutions:
* Paul Cézanne Aix Marseille III University (FRANCE) (coordinator)
* KSOP (Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics) : KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) (GERMANY)
* Barcelona Universities (SPAIN) :
o UPC – Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya
o ICFO – Institute of Photonic Sciences
o UB – Universitat de Barcelona
o UAB – Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona

The EuroPhotonicsEMJDDoctorate program addresses, in the laboratories of the consortium below, the coming challenges in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics. This doctorate program is based on a consortium of excellence research institutes and universities in the field, which goal is to involve co-tutelle doctorate students in cutting-edge research projects profiting from the complementarity between the partners, as well as a wide range of research training and teaching plans that includes fundamental and general sciences, technology, languages and communication, research and industrial management, technology transfer, career exploratory support, international meetings, workshops and conference participation.

This three-year doctorate program is organized by five institutions:

California Science,Technology and Policy Fellowships, USA

Managed by the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST), the fellowships offer unique professional development opportunities while providing California policy makers with sound and unbiased scientific and technical advice regarding issues before the State Senate and Assembly.
The program, adapted for California from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Congressional Science and Technology Fellowship program, is the first in the nation to place PhD-level scientists and engineers in a state legislature.
Recruited nationally, successful applicants will assist legislators in formulating and evaluating science and technology policy for California. Areas of consultation could include legislation related to pressing issues and challenges, such as healthcare, bioethics, energy and water resource management.
Selected fellows will be required to relocate to the Sacramento area, attend a mandatory training period beginning on November 1, 2011, and to make a one-year commitment to fully participate in the Fellowship through October 31, 2012. The training boot camp will cover the Legislative process, the effective translation of science for policy makers, and tips for success in the Legislative environment. CCST was established in 1988 in response to a unanimous vote of the California State Legislature to provide the Senate and Assembly with expert and unbiased scientific advice.
Funding for the Fellowships is provided by: The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation; Stephen Bechtel Fund/S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation; Kingfisher Foundation; The Heising-Simons Foundation; TOSA Foundation, and the Gen-Probe Fund.
