Postdoctoral in Antenna Systems: New Waveguide Technology for Radio Links, Sweden

The postdoc position has one year duration and is financed by a project within the Chase research center. Depending on the results of the first year’s study and the industrial interest, the Board of Chase may decide to extend both the size and duration of the project. The research will be to investigate the use of gap waveguides in radio links above 30 GHz, in collaboration with local industry and the antenna group.

The employed person will work part of the time in an industrial environment, where he/she will learn about specifications and present state of the art in radio link RF technology. This knowledge will then be used to investigate if any of the RF components such as antennas, filters, couplers and orthomode transducers can be realized more cost-effectively in gap waveguides, and even if the packaging of the whole RF front end can be done in gap waveguide technology. The gap waveguide is new, so it is expected that the project will result in scientific publications, possibly co-authored with the PhD students and researchers in the group. The agreement between Chase and the partner companies stimulates to such publications. Therefore, the position is well suited to build up merits for higher positions in research.
Required qualifications

Recent PhD in related areas such as design of antennas and components in waveguides.

– Main author of several scientific publications in journals and at conferences. Experience with EM software such as CST Microwave Studio, HFSS and similar.

– Experience with research on metamaterials such as soft and hard surfaces and similar.

– Experience with practical design and measurements of antennas and waveguide components.
