Huguenot Scholarship Programme in History at University of London 2011 in UK

This scholarship of up to £2,500 is awarded by the Trustees of the French Huguenot Church of London Charitable Trust, on the advice of the Institute of Historical Research.

The award will be made to a student working for a higher degree on a Huguenot subject, i.e. the study of any activity of the French, the Dutch, the Flemish or the Walloon Protestants from the 16th century to the present, in any geographical area. “Activity” will be interpreted in the widest sense.Candidates should ensure that they supply, in addition to their application, two confidential references from academic referees in sealed envelopes.Application forms are available from the Fellowship Office, Institute of Historical Research, University of London, Senate House, London, WC1E 7HU.Please submit this form, together with a one page C.V. and a description of your PhD thesis or MA dissertation (up to 1,000 words).

FE Transition Bursary in University of Edinburgh for Undergraduate Students 2011 in UK

These bursaries offer financial assistance to undergraduate students who enter university with HNC/HND.Further Education (FE) Transition Bursaries assist undergraduate students whose entry qualification may be a Higher National Diploma (HND) or Higher National Certificate (HNC) instead of Highers or A-levels.Students must be admitted to the first year of a full-time programme of study rather than entering second year directly.

In general, SAAS will not assist students with payment of university tuition fees in year 1, if the student has already received such assistance during studies.HNC/HNDFE Transition Bursaries are awarded to students with home fees status for payment of tuition fees only.Normally, students require an FE Transition Bursary for one year only as they are eligible for assistance with their tuition fees for their subsequent years of study.Students can still apply for a student loan through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).Students can seek advice on eligibility for a FE Transition Bursary from any of the EUSA Advice Place Offices.

2012 International Ibsen Award in the Field of Drama and Theater in Norway

The International Ibsen Award Committee hereby calls for nominations of candidates for the International Ibsen Award 2012.The International Ibsen Award was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2007, and amounts to NOK 2.5 million (approx. €300,000).The International Ibsen Award honors an individual, institution or organization that has brought new artistic dimensions to the world of drama or theater. The winner of the 2010 was the internationally renowned playwright Jon Fosse Award. In 2009 the winner was Ariane Mnouchkine – founder and leader of Théâtre du Soleil.

The right to nominate is open to anyone. The nomination letter must be written in English and state the reasons for nomination (maximum 3 pages). The letter should contain a brief CV for the candidate, and two-three suggested referees who know and can provide additional information about the candidate’s work. Self nominations are not acceptable. Nominations are strictly confidential. They should not be disclosed to the nominee or to others, not even after the prize winner has been announced.
