Scholarship for Brilliant but Financially Handicapped Students

 

Afe Babalola University, pursuant to its reformatory education agenda, grants scholarship to outstanding and or indigent students at the end of every academic session. At the end of the 2012-2013 session, ABUAD scholarship and merit award to over 264 students and staff amounted to 28.5million naira.

 

In addition, ABUAD hereby EXTENDS this annual scholarship scheme to those exceptionally brilliant students, who for financial incapacity cannot register in a quality university.

 

Applicants who attain a minimum of SIX distinctions in WAEC or NECO results can obtain FREE application forms to study courses of their choice in Afe Babalola University.

 

The university which has been described as the fastest growing private university in Africa, was rated in February this year by Webometrics as No. 2 best private university in Nigeria and acknowledged by NUC as a model, benchmark and reference point.

Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, a Chevron company and operator of the Agbami Field, in its continuous support for capacity building in the health and Engineering sectors as a strategic feed into the national manpower pool, is offering a number of University Scholarship Awards to qualified Nigerian students of ALL the states of the Federation.

 

The scholarship program, funded by Star Deep and its Agbami partners, is a major component of the Agbami partners’ Social Investment in the strategic development of health and education in Nigeria and the Niger Delta in particular.

 

The Agbami partner’s strategic support for health development is a three-pronged approach of health infrastructural development, support for basic science education and training of medical professionals through this scholarship program.

 

Eligibility

Applications are invited from FULL-TIME, 100 and 200 Levels Undergraduate from any state of the Federation, studying any of the under listed courses in universities or other relevant

Scholarship for Undergraduate and Higher National Diploma Studies 2012/2013 Academic Session

 

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation was established in 2009 by the friends, associates and well-wishers of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the late Premier of the defunct Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto in collaboration with governments of the 19 northern states of Nigeria to promote the ideals of good governance.

 

As part of its focus on the advancement of education in northern Nigeria, the Foundation will provide financial support for 190 eligible undergraduates and Higher National Diploma students of northern Nigeria origin in accredited public universities and polytechnics in Nigeria annually through the award of scholarships.

 

The scholarship award is worth N100,000.00 (One hundred thousand Naira) per student for the duration of an academic session. Upon award, it will be renewed subject to a minimum CGPA equivalent to “second class, upper division” for university students and minimum CGPA equivalent to “second class, upper division” for university students and minimum CGPA equivalent to “upper credit” for polytechnic students.

 

Applications are hereby invited for the 2012/2013 session and successful applicants will receive their awards at the beginning of the 2012/2013 academic session.

 

The scholarship is available to qualified and successful applicants of northern state origin who are commencing their 100 Level degree or HND  programme in the 2012/2013 academic session.

 

Priority Courses

 

While candidates who have been offered admission into degree programmes in public universities and HND programmes in public polytechnics are eligible to apply, priority will be given to those admitted into science and technology courses in a ratio that will be determined by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

  • Offer of admission into a full time degree or HND programme in a public university or polytechnic
  • Satisfy the minimum requirement for registration in the institution and the department or faculty as a full time student.
  • Credit in 5 “O” level papers including English and/or Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
  • Must be indigenes of any of the 19 states of Northern Nigeria (Certificate of State of Origin will be required)
  • Must not be more than 25 years of age by the date of entry into the university or polytechnic
  • A letter of reference from a community leader

 

However, meeting these eligibility criteria would not guarantee award of the scholarship which is subject to availability and candidate’s ranking in the selection exercise. Any falsification of information at any stage will result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.
