2011 Roy W. Likins Scholarship to deserving Florida Students, USA

Roy Likins was a life-long member of AWWA. He served as president of Palm Coast Utility Corporation for six years and served the utility in various capacities for 16 years. He was a leader in the water industry, serving as chair of the FW&PCOA Region 9 and on various state committees with the primary focus on education and training. In 1972, he hosted the Florida Water Resources Conference and later served as secretary / treasurer and chair of the Florida Section. In 1982, he received the prestigious AWWA George Warren Fuller award. Roy was also a strong and active member of his community, serving in the Jaycees, Flagler County Shrine Club, as a member and chair of the School Board, and as treasurer and Chair of the United Way.
After his untimely death in 1991 at the age of 53, the Florida Section honored his service and his memory by naming its scholarship program the Roy W. Likins Scholarship.
Each year, the Likins Scholarship Committee awards a minimum of $2,000 to a maximum of $10,000 in scholarships. The scholarships are distributed in $1,000 or $2,000 increments to deserving Florida students, either in undergraduate or graduate school.

MIGA Doctors in Training Grants Program 2011-2012, Australia: Medicine

This Program is announced for assist doctors in training whilst pursuing specialist training opportunities in Australia and abroad.Funds are provided to assist doctors meet the expenses associated with this additional training.
The Program is open to doctors in Australia who are insured with MIGA at the time of Application and funding of the Grant.. Enrolled in and undertaking an accredited training program with an Australian Medical College or Society, or who have completed their College or Society training program within the last two years. Seeking to undertake a Training Program or Placement that is beyond the training prescribed through their College or Society.
The Grants consist of four individual DIT Grants of $5,000 per recipient, to assist in funding their training opportunity which can include travel, accommodation, Program fees, etc.Grants will be judged on merit and awarded to Applicants deemed as submitting the most outstanding Applications.Whether all four Grants are awarded or not will be subject to MIGA receiving suitable Applications which meet MIGA’s selection criteria.

2 PhD/Postdoctoral Positions at University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Nano-structured junctions with molecules bound between electrodes present interesting systems for molecular electronic and thermoelectric devices. These projects will investigate inelastic electron transport and heat transport in conducting junctions with a particular focus on strategies for controlling these processes chemically.

PhD employment will be for a period of 3 years, postdoc. employment will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension.
The Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). The University of Copenhagen wishes to reflect the surrounding society and encourage all qualified applicants regardless of personal background to apply for the positions.
