2011 Roy W. Likins Scholarship to deserving Florida Students, USA

Roy Likins was a life-long member of AWWA. He served as president of Palm Coast Utility Corporation for six years and served the utility in various capacities for 16 years. He was a leader in the water industry, serving as chair of the FW&PCOA Region 9 and on various state committees with the primary focus on education and training. In 1972, he hosted the Florida Water Resources Conference and later served as secretary / treasurer and chair of the Florida Section. In 1982, he received the prestigious AWWA George Warren Fuller award. Roy was also a strong and active member of his community, serving in the Jaycees, Flagler County Shrine Club, as a member and chair of the School Board, and as treasurer and Chair of the United Way.
After his untimely death in 1991 at the age of 53, the Florida Section honored his service and his memory by naming its scholarship program the Roy W. Likins Scholarship.
Each year, the Likins Scholarship Committee awards a minimum of $2,000 to a maximum of $10,000 in scholarships. The scholarships are distributed in $1,000 or $2,000 increments to deserving Florida students, either in undergraduate or graduate school.

Minnesota River Board Undergraduate Scholarship 2011-2012, USA: Water Resources Management

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage enrollment in educational studies related to career fields in Water Resource Management.

1. he applicant should have declared a major such as Environmental Science, Biology, Agriculture, Engineering, Public Administration, or Political Science and have the intention of pursuing work in Water Resources.
2. The applicant must be enrolled in a two- or four- year accredited college or university located within the
Minnesota River Basin.
3. The applicant must be an undergraduate student with a current standing as Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior.
4. A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Master’s in Water Resources and Environmental Management at Leibniz University, Germany

Within the frame of the funding programme “Postgraduate Courses for Professionals with Relevance for Developing Countries” DAAD and Leibniz Universitaet Hannover still accept applications towards the MSc programme “Water Resources and Environmental Management”. The programme is open only for graduates holding a MSc or BS/BEng degree (16 years of education) who can bring proof of working experience in a relevant field of at least two years.

Due to the shortage of time, applications should be submitted directly to the DAAD head office or to the university. Applications submitted to the DAAD Information Center in Islamabad until March 25 will be forwarded to the head office by courier service. Please submit complete sets only.A leaflet with further information about the MSc programme can be obtained from the DAAD Information Center (please make appointment).
