Key responsibilities include:
1. synthesis and evaluation of novel photosensitizers for PDT
2. in vitro and in vivo evaluation of novel photosensitizers for PDT
3. spectroscopic characterization of model pigments and photosynthetic complexes
Profile of candidates:
1. PhD in life sciences or biomedical sciences, obtained not longer than 4 years ago
2. research experience (reflected in the publication record) in:
post 1: design, synthesis and evaluation of photosensitizers for PDT
post 2: spectroscopic investigations of photosensitizers or photosynthetic pigments and complexes
3. good knowledge of English language
4. strong motivation to research and experimental work

Erasmus Mundus Master in Quaternary and Prehistory

The main objective of this course (120 ECTS) is to train young researchers in providing competitive services and researches on Prehistory, Paleo-anthropology, geology and paleontology, on the methods to be applied for prehistoric and archaeological research, on Quaternary’s geology and paleontology and on heritage preservation and revaluation.
The ERASMUS MUNDUS master degree in Quaternary and Prehistory is meant to prepare professionals with the following requirements:
· Valid cultural background on scientific research, methods and knowledge on the ancient history of Man both from a cultural and from a naturalistic-prehistoric perspective;

· Appropriate skills in analyzing natural components (both biotic and biotic) within the relationship and interaction between man and environment during the long omination process with specific reference to Quaternary period;

· Knowledge on scientific aspects of Man’s evolution with special concern to naturalistic contents both from an historical and an evolutionary perspective, and also from the point of view of constant relationship with different ways of life and survival strategies used by our species along time;

· Coordination skills and ability to intervene in an interdisciplinary way both in terms of coordination and development of different kinds of research within the subjects of the master degree;

· Appropriate knowledge and management of filing and analysis of information concerning human evolution and natural environment of prehistoric community with special interest in biological and cultural aspects;

· Appropriate skills in restoration and preservation techniques of materials in prehistoric natural sediments.

· Interdisciplinary knowledge on the state of research within prehistory acquired at the main European Institutions.

Bangor University International Scholarships 2011, UK

An international scholarship of up to £1,500 per year is open to international (Non EU) applicants applying for any undergraduate or Taught Postgraduate courses at Bangor University.

Scholarship Regulations

* Applicants must be resident overseas for fees purposes
* Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must firstly submit an application to study at Bangor University. Completed scholarship applications must be sent directly to the International Office by scan, fax or post. Applications should be received at the university no later than 30th of June 2011. Any applications received after the 30th of June, 2011 will not be considered
* Correct scholarship applications must be used (2011 Entry). All scholarship applications must be fully completed. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be sent back to you
* International Scholarships are awarded only to students who have not been offered any other awards, scholarships or bursaries from Bangor University, its Colleges or Schools
* The International Office will reduce or totally withhold an award if the holder has not made distinct progress in his/her studies as certified by tutors and as shown in the examinations of the University, or if his/her conduct and diligence has not been satisfactory
* All scholarships shall be reviewed on an annual basis
* If you are currently a student at Bangor University, please note that you will not be eligible to apply for the International Scholarship.
* Students who will be enrolled at ELCOS should apply for the International Scholarship before arriving at Bangor to study the English Language Course at ELCOS
* International Scholarships are awarded only to students who have not been offered any other awards, scholarships or bursaries from Bangor University, its Colleges or Schools
* All awards will be announced at the beginning of July 2011 via e-mail notification.
