The rare Charitable Research Reserve is a 913-acre property in Cambridge and North Dumfries, Ontario at the confluence of the Grand and the Speed Rivers. The goal of rare is to protect this environmentally sensitive landscape intact, in perpetuity, and to promote the use of the property for education and research. The property includes a broad range of habitats including riparian zones, upland and lowland deciduous forest (old-growth and second-growth), savanna, cliffs, coldwater streams, deciduous swamps, marshes, hedgerows, agricultural fields and old fields.

.The field of study is open and could include, but is not limited to, research in ecology, zoology, geology, restoration ecology, hydrology, botany, soil science, archaeology, agriculture and education. The Scholarship will allow students to study in a relatively undisturbed, yet highly accessible site. The monetary award will help ensure successful candidates have the necessary resources to conduct and report on their research at rare. It will also allow the student to give an oral presentation at a conference in their discipline.

2011 Helmut Claas-Scholarship in Engineering, Agricultural and Economics in Germany

The main item of your application is your written project.Your project should be linked to agricultural engineering or have any other connection with agriculture and its related industries.Possible topics: Agricultural Engineering, Bio- systems technology, green biotechnology, machinery management or other interesting agriculture related technical projects.
Projects from students just starting their university degree course are most welcome. You may write a report (e.g. seminar essay, progress report) on your future vision of agriculture or the agricultural industry, e.g. new ideas for farming practices or solutions to current problems in the field of agricultural engineering.

You may also apply with your bachelor project report or thesis. If you are currently registered on an appropriate higher degree programme (taught MSc, MSc by Research, MPhil or PhD) you may submit a piece of work such as a project report, taught MSc thesis or synopsis of your research project.

Global Scholars Program in Graphic Communications, France

The many disciplines of Graphic Communications, including multimedia and game design, are global industries with both cultural and global markets to satisfy. This program will enhance the development and understanding of the animation/gaming process allowing students to experience first-hand the process professional animator’s use. Students will develop storyboards for animation and sequencing of activities, create traditional drawings to scan into computer programs and finish development of an interactive game or multimedia CD. Students will also take classes at Parsons Paris School of Art and Design and visit master works of art in a variety of museums.
Students will stay in an apartment like setting which will give them the opportunity to shop and eat from local markets and bistros. Students will participate in tours and cultural events in Paris and the surrounding area to gain knowledge of the people and culture of France.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply to this program you must:
• Be declared in the Graphic Communications or IT-Web Developer/Administrator program with all first semester program courses completed by May 10, 2011*
OR
Be declared in Computer Animation, Digital Photography, Game Programming or Multimedia Advanced Technical Certificate with one of the following completed by May 10, 2011: Traditional Animation, and History (206-101), Digital Photography (204-107), Game Programming I (152-157) or Multimedia Graphics/Animation (204-147)*
• Have a program GPA of 3.0 or better
• Be in compliance with department and college policies
