Queen Sofia Junior Research Fellowships Positions in University of Oxford, UK

Exeter College proposes to elect to the Queen Sofia Junior Research Fellowship in Modern and Contemporary Peninsular Spanish Literature from 1 October 2011. The Fellowship is open equally to men and women and is tenable for two years in the first instance, renewable for a further period of one year only. The College will normally consider applications both from persons well advanced in their work for a doctorate and from those engaged in post-doctoral research. The salary offered is £22,590 (inclusive of Housing Allowance; subject to deduction if accommodation in College is offered and accepted).

Riga Graduate School of Law Co-sponsored doctoral studentships positions at the Department of Law

The Riga Graduate School of Law announces Scholarships for an LL.M degree in Public International Law and Human Rights funded by the Open Society Institute (OSI). Eligible students currently are invited to apply for the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) Public International Law and Human Rights Programme. The programme provides expertise in Public International Law and Human Rights and also offers courses in European Law. The programme is competitive and very prestigious. The Programme is based at the RGSL located in Riga, Latvia. It is available to individuals with bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or related fields (or will be awarded a degree prior to admission to the programme), obtained in at least four years long studies, if basic knowledge in law and corresponding work experience is acquired; second level professional higher education, professional bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or other related fields, if basic knowledge in law and corresponding work experience is acquired. The 2011/2012 Programme starts in September 2011. The purpose of these scholarships is to support students who have demonstrated academic excellence in law or a comparable field of study and have a demonstrated commitment to work in the field of public law, human rights, or public service.

The John Harvey Whiteside Scholarship, University of Toranto: Art or Commerce

This scholarship has been established to provide continuing funding for a Trinity College student who is registered in an Honours Bachelor of Arts or Commerce programme, and who is not also receiving another significant continuing scholarship. Candidates are to have strong academic records and good records of community participation. The award is given each year to a student entering second year and is renewable for the third year and fourth year of study as long as the recipient maintains aminimum 3.50 AGPA each year on a minimum of 4.0 credits, and remains positively involved in the College and/or University and/or community; special consideration may be given to renewal for a student whose AGPA or course load falls below the minimums above in any given year as a result of circumstances that have disrupted his/her academic work.
Criteria:
Applicants must:
1. Have been newly admitted to degree studies in 2010-2011 and be entering second year in 2011-2012.
2. Have a minimum 3.50 AGPA in their first year on a minimum of 4.0 credits.
3. Demonstrate active College/University/community involvement (sports, arts, student societies,volunteer work, etc.) and the intention to continue to be involved in these areas.
Value:
One award with a value of $15,000 per year. This award is eligible for renewal twice, for third and fourth years, provided the renewal conditions are met.
