Special Postdoctoral Researchers in Computer Science and Engineering, Japan

he University of Aizu offers a number of special postdoctoral fellowships for talented young scholars for doing collaborative and independent research in one of several strategic research themes. The post is fixed term for a period of 18 months starting from within a period of June-October 2011.
Eligibility:
In principle, candidates must have acquired or expect to acquire a doctoral degree on or after April 1, 2005.
Research Fields: High-performance Computing, Internet Computing, Software Engineering, and Cloud Computing that relate to the strategic research being conducted at the University of Aizu.

Udall Scholarships Position in Environmental Public Policy & Conflict Resolution

The Udall Foundation invites applications for the 2011 Environmental Public Policy & Conflict Resolution Dissertation Fellowship. We hope that you will post or distribute the attached application materials to qualified Ph.D. students. The Udall Foundation awards two one-year fellowships of up to $24,000 to doctoral candidates whose research concerns U.S. environmental public policy and/or U.S. environmental conflict resolution, and who are entering their final year of writing the dissertation. Dissertation Fellowships are intended to cover both academic and living expenses from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. PhD Position in Biology, Ecological Botany, University of Uppsala, Sweden

Candidates should have a masters degree in ecology. Proficiency in English is a requirement. The candidate should have a keen interest in plant population and community ecology. Knowledge about peatlands, bryophytes and plant ecophysiology are considered as merits.

The applications should include a letter of motivation for PhD studies and for this topic, as well as a description of previous education, research interests and research experience. It should further include a CV, authorized copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, and contact information (phone, email) for at least two references. Relevant publications (including MSc thesis) should be enclosed.

The postgraduate training comprises four years of full time studies. The successful candidate will receive a postgraduate fellowship the first year (15500 SEK/month) and a postgraduate position year 2-4 (currently 22000-24500 SEK/month). The position can be combined with up to 20% of teaching assistantship, which will then prolong the position accordingly.
