Project Oriented Biological Education(POBE)– 2011, JNCASR, India: Biological Education

As part of its Science Outreach Programme, in 2006 the Centre initiated a new program in biology for undergraduate students from other institutions. Selected students are exposed to the concepts and methodologies driving integrative research in biology today, through a combination of lectures, laboratory projects and research. The programme will be conducted during the summer vacation for a period of 6 to 8 weeks. Students selected are expected to work at the Centre for three consecutive summers and successful candidates will receive diploma in biology from the Centre. Whenever possible, students will be allowed to work in the Centre during mid-semester vacations as well. Specialization in a more focused area of research will be possible during the second and third years. Those who complete the POBE programme with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS/PhD programme of the Centre subject to satisfactory performance in the interview.
The total number of Fellowships offered will be upto 10. A scholarship of Rs. 6000/- per month will be provided.
Only selected candidates will be intimated by last week of March – 2011 and the list will also be available on the JNCASR web site. Further enquiries or correspondence will not be entertained.

Postgraduate Studentships Positions in University of Glasgow, UK

Potential applicants are advised to consult the AHRC Guidelines on Postgraduate Funding Opportunities for information on the Block Grant Partnership Scheme, on the AHRC subject domains, and on academic and residency criteria. AHRC studentships are funded at the UK Research Council rate. A ‘full’ studentship is offered to those meeting UK residency criteria and covers all postgraduate fees and a maintenance allowance. Applications for part-time study will be considered. EU nationals resident in the EU/EEA may be eligible for a ‘fees-only’ studentship. Applicants are strongly advised to consult the appropriate School pages for information on the research and teaching strengths of subject areas in the College.

PhD Scholarships Positions in College of Science and Engineering, UK

The College of Science and Engineering is pleased to announce the availability of College postgraduate research scholarships for PhD registration in 2011. These prestigious scholarships are highly competitive and we seek candidates who can demonstrate excellence in a single discipline or cross-disciplinary expertise.The scholarship will be for up to three and a half years and will meet the cost of fees (at the home-EU level) and provide a stipend at the Research Council recommended rates (currently £13,590 for 2010/11).
Eligibility: The College Scholarship is open to home/EU/International applicants. They are available for PhD applications in all disciplines within the College of Science and Engineering. Prospective candidates must have secured the support of a PhD supervisor prior to application.
