PhD Studentship in Enterprise Risk Management at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

Our risk and reliability research has a strong background and knowledge basis in the risk management of technological systems in industry. The current research aims at more comprehensive approaches by developing methods and models to handle business risks in different phases of the innovation process and enterprise networks. The understanding on risk, reliability, safety and security issues and their management also builds up capability to support companies in developing new service business related to safety and security.

The task is to develop methods and models for total comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The more detailed research focus can be in supporting business continuity management, in modeling of the effects of safety and security measures, or in security business development.Expectations Success in this position requires a background in risk and reliability management, or in safety and security management. An important expertise area is to understand industrial management, industrial systems and enterprise networks.

Research Grant “Fortis Bank & MeesPierson Donation”, Netherlands

This grant is allocated to a researcher affiliated to a university in the Flemish Community or affiliated to the Evangelische Protestantse Faculteit in Leuven and the Faculteit voor Protestantse Godgeleerdheid in Brussels, or to a Flemish or a Federal institute for scientific research, in order to promote research in the area of civil engineering. If no project in this area fulfils the stated criteria will the donation will be used to promote research in the field of cancerology.

The candidates must have Belgian nationality or belong to one of the member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area (EU-countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) and have graduated from a Faculty of Applied Sciences or from a Faculty of Medicine.If this date falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, the closing date is moved to the following Monday at 17.00h. In order to ensure that all candidates get an equal chance, no bibliographical additions will be accepted after this date. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the FWO is not responsible for the temporary unavailability of the system. Call for Proposals-Bilateral Research Cooperation with Vietnam (NAFOSTED) 2011, Netherlands

The FWO is very keen to promote international collaborations as a driving force for excellence. As part of the funding for bilateral research collaborations, the FWO concludes a bilateral agreement with a number of countries for the funding of joint research projects. These projects go one step further than the traditional exchange projects, because personnel can also be financed. One of the five countries selected is Vietnam. An agreement has been signed with the research fund NAFOSTED (National Foundation for Science and Technology) for the funding of new research projects.

Researchers can submit an application for a joint research project with a duration of 2 years. On Flemish side, the indicative budget per project and per year is about 70.000 EURO, which corresponds to the average size of a normal FWO research project. There is a total amount of 300.000 EURO available per year – the number of fundable projects is therefore about 4. NAFOSTED (Vietnam) has 350.000 EURO a year at its disposal for this collaboration, and aims at projects with an average size of 75.000 EURO.The exact dates for each call are decided on in consultation with the foreign partner and may vary. The forms are available online and should be sent by e-mail before the proposed deadline. An application must be submitted simultaneously to NAFOSTED in order to be admissible.
