PhD Scholarship in Latin American/Caribbean Migration Studies, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark

It is the ambition of the Department to contribute to reducing the complexity of globalisation for business people, companies, and organisations. Thus the Department of International Culture and Communication Studies (IKK) conducts interdisciplinary research in social, linguistic, and communicative problems as reflected in international collaboration. Based on business humanities and the social sciences IKK applies these theories to problems related to economic, legal, social, and cultural issues. IKK focuses on the synergy between research and teaching and produces reflective and independent candidates through a cross disciplinary and practice related approach.

The salary level and appointment is determined by the Ministry of Finance’s collective agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.The PhD student will be enrolled at the PhD School in Language, Law, Informatics, Operations Management, Accounting and Culture.To be considered, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process). An educational background in the social sciences is necessary. The applicant must have successfully completed the Masters degree before commencing PhD at CBS. The applicants must be fluent in English, and preferably also in Spanish.

2011-2012 Santander Postgraduate Scholarships for Taught Masters (Mlitt) Programmes at St Andrews University, UK

The School of Modern Languages of the University of St Andrews is pleased to announce its programme of three one-year scholarships, each worth £5,000, to be awarded to suitably qualified candidates from the countries listed below for the academic year 2011-2012. The primary purpose of these scholarships is to enable students to complete a oneyear taught MLitt programme. While priority may be given to students applying to the MLitt programme in Spanish and Latin American Studies, those interested in any other taught MLitt programme offered by the School of Modern Languages will be given due consideration and are also encouraged to apply. All MLitt programmes involve two consecutive semesters of taught modules plus a period of research (from the beginning of June to the end of August) devoted to writing a 15,000-word dissertation under the supervision of a full-time academic member of staff. Decisions will be Made and communicated to candidates by 15 June. To be considered for an award, candidates must have been accepted to undertake one of the MLitt programmes offered by the School of Modern Languages, beginning in September 2011. They must be nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela or Spain. ESRC Doctoral Studentships in Economic and Social History, University of Exeter, UK

The Universities of Bristol, Exeter and Bath have come together to form one of the UK’s largest Centres of postgraduate research training for social scientists in fields ranging from economics and human geography to history and psychology.The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has granted doctoral training centre status to the collaboration. The South West Doctoral Training Centre (SWDTC) has been accredited to offer a hub of world-class social sciences research. As one of only 21 Centres in the UK, the SWDTC will be part of a national network to be launched in October 2011 that will train a new generation of social scientists. The SWDTC has been allocated 41 studentships per annum and the College of Humanities at the University of Exeter is pleased to be offering up to 2 ESRC 1+3 or +3 studentships in the area of Economic and Social History for 2011/12 entry.

For eligible students the studentship will cover UK/EU tuition fees and an annual maintenance grant (in 2011/12 this will be £13,590) for up to three years. For the 1+3 studentships we will require you to register for the MRes in Economic and Social History (Streatham Campus, Exeter).
