FitzPatrick Family Doctoral Scholarships in Law, UK: Criminology, Criminal Justice, Penology

The UCD Institute of Criminology, part of UCD’s School of Law, is pleased to offer one doctoral scholarship in the area of criminology/ criminal justice / penology. Applications are sought from exceptional graduates for a scholarship to undertake on a full-time basis a four year funded PhD programme of research in the fields of criminology, criminal justice, or penology. The scholarship is being generously funded by the FitzPatrick Family Foundation. It is available to candidates commencing their studies in September 2011 and is tenable for a maximum of four years, renewable each year subject to satisfactory progress.
In addition the payment of fees there is an annual stipend of €16,000 per annum (plus a €500 conference attendance allowance) and is open to Irish, EU and International applicants. In the case of non EU applicants any offer is conditional on the applicant demonstrating at the time of accepting the offer that s/he has sufficient funds to supplement the living allowance to cover the cost of living in Dublin. We support undergraduates, graduates, and PhD students in all subjects who embrace the Green cause, share the fundamental values of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, can demonstrate an excellent academic record, and are socially and politically active. Our scholarship programme brings together students from all over the world.German students, students who have gained their university entrance qualification from a German school school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) and students from EU countries.Applicants must study a subject within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Enineering (university or college, e.g. Fachhochschule; degrees: Bachelor, Diploma, State Examination AND Master).Applicants studying for a first degree (degree: Bachelor, State Examination or Diploma) can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first three semesters at the time of application.

2011 Doctoral Positions in International Studies, Trento University, Italy

The University of Trento, with the financial support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto, announces the 27h cycle of the Doctoral School in International Studies. The selection for 5 doctoral positions is announced. All the 5 positions will be assigned scholarships. The scholarships are issued by the University of Trento. Duration: Three years Official language: English. All doctoral students are encouraged to learn Italian during their studies. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in developing interdisciplinary competences, with particular regards to the International Studies. The number of scholarships may be increased by funds from universities, public research bodies, or approved private organizations made available after the publication of this announcement and before the beginning of the selection.

cases applicants must attach a declaration from their academic supervisor or the relevant faculty stating that
the student is expected to complete the programme before the said deadline. Admission for candidates who have not graduated yet will be “conditional” and the applicant must present the relevant degree certificate, or a declaration that the degree has been conferred (in conformity with Presidential Decree no. 445 of December 28, 2000, applicable only to citizens of the European Union), by 5 October 2011. Otherwise, the applicant shall lose the right to be admitted to the School.
