• Curriculum Vitae (clearly indicating your study field).
• ID document.
• Full official academic record including all levels of tertiary study prior to your current qualification.

• For Master’s and Doctoral students – A brief (max one page) outline of your project
(clearly indicating the research area).
• Letters of Reference (see table below for specific letters of reference required per level of study)

PhD in Architecture, Building and Planning, Research Institute of Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands

This project is part of the large Dutch Research Programme “Climate Proof Cities” in which a large number of universities and research institutes are involved. The aim of this programme is to provide the knowledge that is necessary for adapting the built environment to be able to cope with climate change.The duration of the project is four years. The project is expected to start in May 2011. The gross monthly salary increases from € 2042,- in the first year to € 2612,- in the fourth year.

We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated candidate with an MSc degree in Building Science, Building, Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent. Interest in modelling human behaviour, computer programming and physical processes (heat, air, moisture and pollution transfer) in the built environment is essential. Experience in human behaviour, climate adaptation modelling and computer programming, and/or experience in Building Performance Simulation, Computational Fluid Dynamics and/or Building Envelope Heat-Air-Moisture transfer modelling is a plus.

2011 Research Degree Scholarships at Hull University Business School, UK

The following scholarships are available for students studying on our PhD programmes. Three scholarships that each pay the fees to the value of UK/EU tuition fees, irrespective of the nationality of the scholarship winner, and stipend to a maximum of three years. Applicants who:

  • have applied and received confirmation of an offer to study on the MPhil/PhD programme at Hull University Business School
  • are able to commence their studies in September 2011.
  • Competitive, awarded on the basis of best overall application, research proposal and fit with the school’s research strategy. Complete and submit the scholarship application form, as directed on the form, along with the following (note: applications submitted without full documentation will not be considered): A research proposal of approximately 3,000 words (excluding referencing) detailing excellent knowledge of subject literature and research methods. The research proposal should be properly referenced utilising Harvard referencing style. A covering letter to accompany the completed application form outlining your case for the scholarship award. A current detailed CV, identifying any research employment or experience and, where applicable, details of conference presentations or publications.
