Rubicon Grants for Research Programme at Dutch Universities and Research Institutes

The aim of the Rubicon programme is to encourage talented researchers at Dutch universities and research institutes run by KNAW and NWO to dedicate themselves to a career in postdoctoral research. Rubicon offers researchers who have completed their doctorates in the past year the chance to gain experience at a top research institution outside the Netherlands (maximum of two years). Postgraduates who are currently engaged in doctoral research or who have been awarded a doctorate in the twelve months preceding the relevant deadline. Applicants who are still engaged in doctoral research may only apply if their supervisor provides a written declaration approving their thesis.

Proposals will be assessed on the basis of quality criteria (as listed in the brochure which can be downloaded from this website) and certain policy criteria.Multidisciplinary advisory committees will assess the applications.
The views of external referees will not be sought.
The final award decisions will be made by the boards of the relevant divisions/foundation.
The entire assessment procedure will take approximately 4 months.

10 PhD Fellowships in Aging-Associated Diseases, Cologne University, Germany

The CECAD Graduate School is calling for applications for its comprehensive PhD program in the interdisciplinary and future-oriented field of aging research. The three-year program includes excellent research conditions with intensive guidance and state-of-the-art facilities in an international work environment.

Requirements
The requirements for applying to the CECAD Graduate School is a Master of Science or an equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or another relevant subject. Alternatively, we also accept applicants with a degree in medicine if they can prove that they have sufficient research experience in a field which is relevant to CECAD’s work. In order to be admitted to the selection procedure, all applicants must prove that they have adequate knowledge of English.

2011 Fellowship Programme, Vera List Center for Art and Politics, USA

The Vera List Center invites applications for 2011-2013 fellowships. Two fellowships will be awarded, each spanning ten months and tied to the Vera List Center’s focus theme for 2011-2013.
The center’s programs evolve around focus themes of particular urgency and broad resonance. In the face of virtual realities, social media and disembodied existences, the center in 2011-2013 will examine the nature of our material world under the heading of “thingness.” It will focus on the material conditions of our lives, and call for a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between objects and people that may provoke more responsible, ethical and ecologically sound politics. The Vera List Center Fellows contribute to the intellectual foundation of the center, and through their fellowship projects advance the exploration of the focus theme.

Journalists, historians, visual and performing artists, critics, curators, and cultural practitioners working in any field where they engage art and politics.
