Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship, USA

In addition to completing FAME’s application, a student must:
-Be a Maine resident and high school/home schooled senior graduating by June 2011
-Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average based on a 4.0 scale
-Demonstrate academic rigor and community service involvement
-Be enrolled full-time at an eligible post-secondary school beginning fall 2011
-Submit all required supplemental forms and documents by the required deadline

The award amount for the 2011-2012 academic year is $1,500.

You must submit all required documents for your application to be considered complete.Applications that are not complete by the deadline date indicated will be ineligible. FAME assumes no responsibility for identifying missing or erroneous information.

2011 Mary Catherine Mooney Fellowship, USA

A Mary Catherine Mooney Fellowship, courtesy of a long-time teacher in the Boston Public School system, offers a stipend of $1,500 for a residency of twenty days and includes a year’s membership to the Boston Athenæum. Scholars, graduate students, independent scholars, teaching faculty, and professionals in the humanities as well as teachers and librarians in secondary public, private, and parochial schools are eligible. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals holding the appropriate U.S. government documents.

Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae and letter of intent describing the proposed project and citing specific materials from the Boston Athenæum’s collections. Graduate students must also include a letter of recommendation from their faculty advisor.

The F & M Bank Merit Award for High School Seniors, USA

The F & M Bank Merit Award for the 2011-2012 will be given to a senior at each high school in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties. The scholarship will be in the amount of $500. Should a student qualify for need-based funds, the scholarship becomes part of the total financial aid package.
To be considered for a F & M Bank Award for the 2011-2012
academic year, the student must meet the following criteria:
1. The student must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
2. The student must demonstrate academic promise and exhibit the personal characteristics that will lead to success in college.
3. A high school transcript and two letters of recommendation that support the student’s potential for college success must be
submitted with the scholarship application.
4. The student must agree to enroll at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for the fall semester following spring high school
graduation, as a full-time (at least 12 semester hours) curriculumstudent for a full academic year.
