2011 UEA International Student Scholarships at University of East Anglia, UK

The University of East Anglia awards over £1,000,000 of scholarships each year to support international students in their studies. The awards are made by individual Schools of Study in the University. All international students (outside the European Union) are considered for a scholarship of between 10% and 50% of tuition fees. In order to be considered for a UEA scholarship you do not need to make a separate application.  Please indicate on your application for admission that you wish to be considered for a scholarship. It is important to make an application as early as possible because they are considered as they are received. So apply early to make sure of the best chance of success.  If you are granted a scholarship, you will be informed at the time you receive your offer of a place at UEA. Scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are normally for the duration of the period of study – three years for Bachelor and PhD degrees and one year for Masters programmes. They are available from all Schools of Study and across most courses of study. Students of outstanding academic ability will also be considered for Faculty Scholarship Awards made by the Dean of Faculty, usually in April or May each year. These are highly competitive and prestigious award.

The Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship for High School Students, USA

The Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship was established by the Janus Foundation in 2002 to honor the memory of their valued employee, Kathleen “Kit” Faragher who lost her life in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The Kit Faragher Foundation was created in 2003 to honor her memory and has continued to award this annual scholarship.
This scholarship supports Colorado high school students who have earned a high school GPA of 2.5, are in need of financial assistance for college, university, or technical school, and who capture Kit’s essence by demonstrating a positive attitude, strong commitment, and a drive towards accomplishment. Scholarship money may be used for tuition, books, lab fees, or other costs directly related to the degree program. The scholarship recipient will receive an award of $2,500 for two years, for a total of $5,000. The scholarship payments will be made directly to the school on the student’s behalf at the start of each semester/quarter for the first two years. In order to maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout the first two years of the educational program.

2011 CALAHE Scholarship for High School Seniors and Undergraduate College Students, USA

CALAHE is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the participation of Latinos in different areas postsecondary education in Connecticut.
Award Categories:
• High School Seniors or GED equivalent
• Undergraduate College Students
Eligibility Criteria:
• Involvement with and commitment to activities that promote Latinos pursuit of higher education.
• Accepted for admission to an accredited institution of higher education
• Have a “B” average (3.0 College GPA) for all completed enrollment periods at the time of application.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Must have been a Connecticut resident during the preceding 12 months.
• Limited to Latino students from Connecticut (except for the Rosa Quezada Memorial Education Scholarship).
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• To be eligible, applicants must be seeking their first undergraduate degree.
• Recipients of the CALAHE Scholarship must attend a scholarship reception. The date, location, and time
will be announced once the recipients have been selected.
