The George J. Mitchell Scholarships

Job Description: The George J. Mitchell Scholarships are named in honor of former U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell for his pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process. These scholarships allow American post-graduates to pursue one year of study at institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. There are no restrictions concerning academic field of study.

Eligibility:

To qualify for the 2011 Mitchell Scholarships, applicants must:

1. Be US citizens Be at least 18 years old but not yet 30 on October 1, 2010.

2. Have a Bachelor’s degree before study begins under the Mitchell Scholarship in Fall of 2011.

3. Be enrolled at or a graduate of UNC-CH.

4. Have a 3.8 GPA.

5. Must demonstrate both academic distinction and potential for leadership.

Application Process:

1. Preliminary Application (Due September 2, 2010 by 12:00 p.m.). Please submit one original of the following items (single sided, unstapled) to the UNC ODS by the above deadline:

2. Personal Statement: 1,000 words maximum.

3. Letters of recommendation. At least 3 letters delivered directly to the UNC ODS by your reference. UNC recommends giving references this letter.

4. Original Transcript: One for each college or University attended (UNC transcripts can be ordered through the Registrar at no cost if delivered to UNC Offices).

5. Proof of American citizenship to be considered for the UNC endorsement.
2. UNC Interviews (Mid September: Please contact us ASAP if you anticipate any conflicts) : Based on your preliminary application, students will be invited to interview with the UNC Mitchell Committee. Students unavailable for on-campus interviews must contact the ODS one month in advance to discuss other available options.

3. Revise Applications: Those students nominated by the UNC committee (this number varies based on the regions from where applicants can apply) will have two weeks to revise all parts of their application with assistance from the ODS.

4. Final Submission (Deadline: First week of October, 2010): The regional application will be submitted online with the assistance of the ODS. Hard copy materials will be sent to the regional Mitchell committee by the ODS.

5. Finalists will be flown to Washington for an interview before the national selection committee in November, 2010.

ETSU Scholarship for International Students, USA

This award is open to new international students seeking a graduate or undergraduate degree. The scholarship covers 50 percent of the total of in and out-of-state tuition and maintenance fees only. No additional fees or costs are covered.

The award is available for:
Eight semesters for undergraduate recipients
Five semesters for recipients seeking a Master’s degree, or commensurate with the length of the program.
Eight semesters for doctoral students, or commensurate with the length of the program.
Scholarship can be applied to summer semesters.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants Must:
1. Be admitted to ETSU as full-time, degree-seeking students
2. Have or plan to have an F-1 or J-1 (student) visa
3. Have a demonstrated record of academic achievement.
4. Fill out the scholarship application form.
5. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as they are admitted to ETSU.

Application Requirement
-Recipients must maintain full-time status.
-Undergraduate recipients must maintain a 2.75 grade point average in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
-Graduate recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Recipients will be required to pay other fees such as program fees, course fees, housing costs, and medical insurance costs.

2010 Scholarship of University Westminster, London

Job Description: These scholarships are gathered from income earned by the alumni affinity services. They are available to you if you are a graduate of any University of Westminster undergraduate degree and plan to proceed to a full-time Masters degree within the University.
Scholarship WORTH:
