Two Full-Time PhD Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES), Australia: Phonological and Morphological Development

Two full-time PhD Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES) are available in the Child Language Lab at Macquarie University’s Centre for Language Sciences.
The Child Language Lab at Macquarie University’s Centre for Language Sciences is keen to recruit suitably qualified PhD students to conduct research on phonological and morphological development. We are especially interested in recruiting those with strong quantitative, experimental, and phonetics background to explore issues in early speech perception and production in typical, language/hearing impaired, bilingual, and L2 populations. Methods include acoustic analysis, articulatory studies using ultrasound methods, infant speech perception studies, etc.

PhD Studentship Positions in University of Worcester, UK: Psychology

This research studentship is fully funded by the University of Worcester (UK). During your time at Worcester, you will be provided with your own computer and an office space, which you will normally share with other full-time research students. Your office will normally be located within the Psychological Sciences academic unit, which consists of 12 lecturers and a number of postgraduate students and research assistants.

The research studentship is also linked to the Association for Dementia Studies (ADS). The focus of which is securely set on a body of work that will improve the lives of people living with dementia, their families and those who work to support them. Established under the leadership of Professor Dawn Brooker in May 2009, ADS works in partnership with health and social care providers, practitioners, commissioners and government agencies to provide research, education and expert consultancy in the field of person-centred dementia care and support.

Postdoctoral Fellowship, Functional Proteomics in Epigenetics Research, Denmark

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a position as a postdoctoral research fellow within the field of epigenetics and functional proteomics to be filled by 1 March, 2011, or soon thereafter.

The research project encompasses the development and application of mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies to study post translational modifications of proteins involved in epigenetic events and chromatin dynamics in the context of stem cell development and cancer. The project is part of the Center-of-Excellence in Epigenetics funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.

Highly creative, outstanding individuals with a background in biochemistry, cell biology or a related field are sought with the following qualifications:
*Demonstrated ability to do high quality research in protein biochemistry, mass spectrometry and proteomics, including gel-free proteomics
*A track record of publication in high quality international journals.
*Ability to work in a team, yet think independently.
*Expertise in affinity-enrichment techniques, computational biology or bioinformatics is preferable, but not a requirement.

The successful candidate will pursue independent projects and also supervise a small team of younger researchers within the Center-of-Excellence in Epigenetics. Leadership skills and experience are highly valued.

The position is initially for 1½ year’s duration with the possibility of extension for additional years.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a strong, international and competitive research environment within the fields of molecular genetics and cell biology, protein chemistry and mass spectrometry, molecular microbiology and biophysics.
