2011-2012 Connaught International Scholarships for Doctoral Students, Canada

The primary purpose of the Connaught International Scholarships for Doctoral Students is to assist graduate units in recruiting and supporting outstanding international scholars to the University of Toronto’s graduate programs. The effective value to each student in 2011-2012 will be $35,000.00 total (including tuition). Value · The department will cover the cost of tuition at the domestic student rate plus the normal minimum funding in the graduate unit of $15,000 or higher (using the normal combination of Research and Teaching Assistantships, UofT Fellowships, etc.). · The Connaught Program will cover “top-up” funding to bring the total funding to $35,000 from the normal minimum in the graduate unit ($15,000 or higher). · Scholarships will continue in the same form throughout the normal period in the funded cohort (4 or 5 years, according to the standard duration of the department’s funding package Eligibility · Nominees must be new international applicants applying to full-time doctoral or doctoral-stream programs within the funded-cohort (M.A., M.Sc., MASc, PhD). · Nominees must begin their program in the 2011-2012 academic year (no later than fall 2011) and cannot have been previously registered within UofT.

The DEKALB Ag Youth Scholarship in African/International Students 2011: Agriculture related Subject

Applications are now being accepted for the DEKALB® Ag Youth Scholarship program, which will provide $2,500 awards to 10 students in 2011 in recognition of their commitment to agriculture.

“We are excited to once again sponsor the DEKALB Ag Youth Scholarship for the fifth straight year,” said DEKALB Marketing Manager Jason Hoag. “DEKALB has a strong history of investing in ag youth education by sponsoring a variety of scholarships and awards.”

This particular award is available to both high school and collegiate students who plan to pursue an agriculture-related degree and who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and community involvement. It has already made a difference for dozens of students since 2007.

“The scholarship has helped me get the best education I can,” said 2010 DEKALB Ag Youth Scholarship winner Chelsea Ahlquist, 18, of Onaga, Kan., who is working toward an agronomy degree at Kansas State University.  “I’m really excited for the opportunity at Kansas State to pursue a career in crop development.”

Ohio FFA District 1 President Mike Hannewald of Waterville, 19, was another 2010 recipient. ”I felt very honored to have received the scholarship and it has helped me focus on my education and preparing for a future career in agriculture,” said Hannewald, who is attending Ohio State University, majoring in crop science.  “I really appreciate the support of DEKALB and Monsanto.”

Applications are available online at and must be submitted by February 15, 2011. FFA membership is not required to be eligible for the scholarship program.

University of Exeter Foundation Scholarships for International Students, UK: Science, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Computer Science and Maths

The University of Exeter and INTO University of Exeter invite applications for the University of Exeter Foundation Scholarships. The scholarships have been created to assist international fee-paying students who need to complete a Foundation Programme before enrolling on a University of Exeter undergraduate degree programme.
The scholarships are available to all international students applying for the following  into University of Exeter Foundation pathways:
• Foundation pathway in Science Leading to an undergraduate degree in College of Life and Environmental Sciences
• Foundation pathway in Humanities, Law and Social Sciences Leading to an undergraduate degree in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies or the College of Humanities
• Foundation pathway in Computer Science and Maths Leading to a degree in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
The Foundation programme commences in September 2011 and January 2012. Successful completion of the appropriate Foundation pathway (subject to meeting specified grades for entry) guarantees students progression onto a wide range of undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Exeter.
