We are pleased to offer two studentships to conduct PhD research in music within the department. The successful applicants will each have a good first degree and a Masters’ degree with an appropriate specialisation, within the field of music (details of departmental specialisms can be found on the departmental website). They will have a strong interest in academic research, will have good organisational and IT skills, and will be able to work both independently and in a team. They will first register for PhD within the department during the academic year 2110/12, researching an approved topic.

One studentship is full-time fees only. The second studentship is part-time fees only. The holder will not be expected to contribute to the department’s teaching, although there may be a possibility of undertaking some teaching. These studentships are available from September 2011. You may apply for both, but must state clearly for which you are applying, and why. You may not hold more than one. Studentships will cover Home/EU fees only, although non-EU applicants are welcome (in which case the studentship will be put towards the fee).
