Orion Center Research Grant for PhD and Postdoctoral Research 2011, Israel

The Orion Center invites applications for its research grants (up to $2000). Preference is given to junior scholars (Ph.D. students and post doctoral students).
The grants are for research on the Dead Sea Scrolls and associated literature in all relevant disciplines. Preference is given to integrative studies involving the Scrolls and other aspects of Second Temple studies. Research connected with the grant must be carried out in Israel; grant recipients will be associated with the Orion Center and participate in Center programs.
The name of the applicant must appear on each page. Two references from instructors familiar with your work, along with contact information for each referee.

TEAM Programme for MSc Students, PhD Students and Postdoctorals, Poland: Bio, Information, Technology

The overall objective of the programme is to increase engagement of young scientists in research performed by the best teams and in the best laboratories in Poland. The projects may be carried out in one of the three main thematic areas: Bio, Info, Techno.

The programme is addressed to research teams’ leaders intending to engage students, PhD students or young PhDs (up to 4 years after the PhD) in the project. The students, PhD students and young PhDs must be selected in an open competition procedure that iscarried out on international level. The number of research team members selected trough such a competition should not be lower than 6.

The main evaluation criteria are the following:

* team leader’s scientific record as well as experience in implementing projects (achieved within the last 4 years),
* scientific or innovative quality of the projects, which will be realized by the selected team members.

The very important element to evaluate the projects is the planned international cooperation of the team (here the minimum guarantee of the intended future collaboration will be the letter of intent signed by the foreign partner, enclosed to the application form).

KOLUMB Fellowship Programme for Polish Postdoctoral Applicants: Bio, Information, Technology

The stipends are awarded for a stay at one research centre, or in justified instances more than one. Stipendees who would like to extend their stay abroad may seek additional funding, on a one-time basis (for 3 months at most), but the duration of the stipend may not exceed 15 months in any event.

To be eligible to apply for a stipend, researchers must:
* hold a doctorate
* file a stipend application no later than 4 years after obtaining the doctorate, which period is extended by 2 years in the case of: men who took documented paternity leave or childrearing leave for at least 3 months, or women who gave birth to a child or adopted a child, based on the birth certificate or adoption certificate

* hold Polish citizenship, or obtained in Poland a permit to settle or a permit for long-term residence in the European Union

Scholarship Application Deadline:1 March 2011 and the second deadline this year is 15 October 2011.
