Clinical Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowships in LHNCBC, USA

The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communication (LHNCBC) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeks postdoctoral fellows as well as graduate and medical students, who are interested in collaborative research within a variety of clinical informatics areas, including Capture, processing and analysis of clinical data for patient care and research applications. LHNCBC has a tradition of advancing health information systems and its world class research staff is involved in activities that define and support the research infrastructure for next generation medical information systems. This program will extend the LHNCBC training opportunities out to the NIH Clinical Center and other research sites on the NIH campus to work in patient care and clinical research settings.

Applicants must have an excellent academic background obtaining a good 2:1 equivalent bachelors degree as a minimum.

Applicants must also demonstrate excellence in an area of their life. This might be outstanding academic achievement, exceptional achievement in extra curricular activities (such as sport, music, managing events or societies) or significant achievement gained either in their working life or through volunteering and service to others.

Applicants must also outline the contribution they will make to the University of Birmingham as a student and what they expect to gain from studying here.

Eligibility : In order to apply candidates must:
be overseas for fee purposes
have applied for a one year full time masters course and have been issued with a student id number
must not be in receipt of a full fee scholarship from any other source
Any application received without an id number will not be considered
Have made adequate financial provision to study in the UK.

AWARD Fellowships for African Women in Agricultural Research and Development 2011 in Africa

AWARD is a professional development program that strengthens the research and leadership skills of African women in agricultural science, empowering them to contribute more effectively to poverty alleviation and food security in sub-Saharan Africa. AWARD is a project of the Gender & Diversity Program of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
The AWARD Fellowship is a two-year program that offers a series of career-development resources that:
•establish a mentorship for each fellow with a senior scientist
•build science skills
•develop leadership capacity
AWARD’s training courses, held over a two-year period, take place in various locations in Africa.

Eligibility
Women agricultural scientists who are nationals of Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zambia, who have completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in the disciplines listed below, are eligible to apply. Applicants must be available in Africa throughout the fellowship period. There is no age restriction.
Applications received after the deadline and incomplete applications will NOT be accepted. Selected fellows will be notified in mid-July, 2011.
